Exit 8

Exit 8

BandRockPop

Inspired by freedom, double-takes and the cries of city life, Exit 8 takes its name from the hard-driving, rock-infused melodies their music evokes. With a sound ranging from Jimmy Eat World to a toned down Foo Fighters, Exit 8 delivers the hooks with big rock guitars and pop sensibilities.

Biography

The first track from the Exit 8 latest demo ‘Penny Waits’ starts off with a driving bass line followed by layered guitars and hard-hitting drums. The sound swells and eventually fades back to an open verse where an empathetic vocal tells a sad story about a girl who long ago stopped believing in herself. By the time the crunch-filled chorus guitars enter the scene our character ‘Penny Waits’ is contemplating ending it all. With only a glimmer of hope that she will find the strength to start believing, Penny Waits not only becomes our heroine but a damn good song as well.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Featured on XM SATELLiTE RADiO's Radar Report as one of the top 12 up and coming bands in the U.S., on 92.9 DaveFM's New Music Seminar show and on Radio Crystal Blue's New Music Sampler is a solid sign that Exit 8 has arrived. Here's what they are saying:

"The swirling guitars and melodies of Exit 8 are ear grabbing from the first licks of PENNY WAITS. This band gets it...the complete package." - Barnes, 92.9 DAVE-FM, Atlanta, GA

"Solid commercial pop/rock tune. Good vocal and band performance, good modern mix and production. Catchy chorus hook. Overall very tight." - Taxi

"I really like Exit 8. I feel that listeners will wake up hearing it. Refreshing mesh of Beatlesque harmonies infused with the stuff the Who were doing, and give it actually a New Wave sound. You know, like being in a red-shift time warp and making these sounds coalesce perfectly." - Dan Herman/Radio Crystal Blue

Penny Waits

Written By: Paul Stancato, Mark Stancato

penny waits / alone in her garden / painting pictures of times that she knows won’t come / penny waits / can you hold on till tomorrow? / draw yourself inside the picture, i’m here with ya my friend / penny waits / she’s numb from rejection / penny waits / stares into a mirror / counts the freckles on her forehead there are 24 / penny waits / as her thoughts become clearer / set aside the razor, it won’t save ya / penny waits is who you’re fighting for / she’s numb from rejection/she faces everyday / succumbs to affections/ from people she creates / idle by she hesitates / still doin what i can for penny waits / she’s dumb for believing / on and on and on, on and on and on / on and on and on and on and on... / (she goes) on and on and on, (she goes) on and on and on / (she goes) on and on and on and on and on... / you’re numb from rejection / you’re facing everyday / trading love for affection from people that you hate / don’t you buy the twisted shit they say hold be stronger penny waits / don’t be numb from believing, believe me... / idle by you hesitate i’m still doing what I can for ya penny waits / stand up start believing

Swerve

Written By: Mark Stancato

out here among the people where i watch them come and go / i see a hundred faces with a story to be told / won’t you please take the wheel from me / 'cause it seems i cannot drive / as I swerve to the side into the oncoming headlights / it hits me hard i've got to get out of here / saving up for the good life put my change in a mason jar / try to make a buck come monday night falls i’m at the bar / won’t you please take the wheel from me / ‘cause it seems i cannot drive / as i swerve to the side into the oncoming headlights / it hits me hard I got to get out of... / here where i stand i can’t seem to see / struggling, fighting with, keep my place in line i’m number / six, yea that’s me i’m in front of you and then they call out to / all the group we’re taking numbers one through five not you / please take the wheel from me / ‘cause it seems i cannot drive / as I swerve to the side into the oncoming headlights / oh hits me hard, yea i'm so fucked up, yea we're all from mars, i came so far

New Day

Written By: Mark Stancato, Godfrey Diamond

and then we run and we run so far / we run around just as fast as we can / we run around to win / i was under the influence of your love it was like a drug / tried to hide could not fight my addiction this time i’m burning out / now i know i cannot see with the time in front of me, dim the light hypnotized / lye down to think straight turning and turning / and then we run and we run so far / we run around just as fast as we can / we run around to win the race gone tomorrow on a new day / sleep some more wake to find the same old day is knocking at my door, leave me alone / borrow change when you need a ride pay me back when you feel kind, everything has its place / call me when your safe i’ll try to forget you / and then we run and we run so far / we run around just as fast as we can / we run around to win the race gone tomorrow on a new day / on a new day, on a new day / everything has its place / call me when your safe i’ll try to forget you / and then we run and we run so far / we run around, run around / we run around to win the race gone tomorrow on a new day, gone tomorrow on a new day, gone tomorrow on a new day, gone tomorrow / gone tomorrow on a new day
