Biography

The old saying is that "three is a crowd" and this certainly does not apply to The Exit Set. After more a year locked away in the studio writing and putting finishing touches on their sound, they are proud to announce they are ready to grace the stage once again...

The Exit Set is a three piece band, hailing from the ashes of Would Be Kings.

The three founding members are;

Bobby Currie - Guitar and Vox
Anthony Drummond - Bass and Backing Vox
Will Welch - Drums

It all began in the summer of 2009 when Would Be Kings decided to call it a day to pursue other things. However, it was apparent between, Bobby, Anthony and Will that there was something else in the pipeline after the trio had forged a solid basis on which to begin a new venture in music following successful studio sessions. With this in mind, they formed the group and began work on new material. Admittedly, it has been some time since this all took place, but Exit Set had took the decision to begin from scratch to capture the essence of what this group are all about.

They take on a refreshingly organic approach to music with all ideas sculpted from the three like-minded members. "All ideas are tried, tested and agreed on which is often a really quick process, recalls Anthony. "It’s almost like we are all on the same page, we know exactly where we will go next when jamming or working on the initial idea of a song."

Will: "We all have very differently influences and that tends to throw some bands in to chaos. It’s different for us. It’s almost like we have worked together for years and have this notion to know where the next move will come, so ideas normally happen through playing around with ideas and listening back when we reached our conclusion. It seems to work, even with the different influences as it gives us a very different groove making the music as much fun to play as it is to listen to."

Bobby: "The best thing about the band is it’s a three piece, everything is simple and straight-forward. In WBK it was walls of delays, big instrumental, big sound and a much heavier sound. We initially began using some old WBK stuff to get us off to a start and as soon as we did this the ideas flowed and we haven’t looked back since. Taking over on lead vocals was something i had not really given much thought, as in previous ventures i would supply backing or singing on initial ideas of songs. It feels natural to take the lead of the band as i enjoy the experience of being up front.

So with a healthy batch of songs and the group ready to take stage The Exit Set are looking to take the Glasgow music circuit by the short and curlies and give it a new look and more interesting. Be sure to keep your eyes open for The Exit Set as gigs will be announced here in due course...
