Eyes of Noctum

A melodic metal band from Los Angeles, Eyes of Noctum saw its genesis in 2005 when the founder and lead vocalist, Arcane, began experimenting as an underground solo artist. Three years later, Arcane and former Noctum lead guitarist Alex Bica began recording material they co-wrote together, taking the first step from the shadows of the unknown.
In the summer of 2008, Eyes of Noctum formed in earnest with the addition of Andy Kirietov (rhythm guitar), Ryan Schroeder (keyboards), Shawn Smocke (bass), and Brandon Schroeder (percussion). The band immediately began working on their first complete album, Inceptum (released Summer 2009). Produced in Sweden by Fredrik Nordström (Flames, Opeth) with contributions by renowned music producer Jack Douglas (Iron Maiden, Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper, Areosmith), the album, consists of a variety of elements and sounds that don’t always relate to a particular genre.
“Metaphorically, Eyes of Noctum symbolizes both the stars and the universe, which philosophically translates as the guidance through darkness,” asserts frontman Arcane. “The sound took years of development and experimentation to evolve into what it is today.”
In early 2009, Bica left Eyes of Noctum and the band added lead guitarist Jesse Wroe, who, along with Arcane, has taken on the brunt of the songwriting duties. Currently the band is working on their sophomore album containing material that represents their final sound, having parted ways with bassist Smocke and keyboardist Ryan Schroeder. The yet-to-be-titled album is set for release in late Spring 2010.
Eyes of Noctum twice toured the U.S., once during the Endurance of Iron and Blasphemy Tour with the long-time Norwegian Black Metal band Urgehal and Death Metal band Spearhead from the U.K. Eyes of Noctum is on the Morbid Rose Records label.
