You’ve heard about people running away to join the circus, but Pete did it the other way round. He was the Musical Director of ‘Giffords Circus’ from 2000 and after 7 years of entertaining Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties, he decided to create something that was solely of his own.. This is how Ezekiel Butler began. Initially Ezekiel Butler was going to be just Pete alone, alternating between instruments at gigs but another three members came along, a bass player, a drummer and a backing singer.
They headlined ‘Commotion Festival’ in Oxford and were soon doing radio interviews and generating a lot of media attention. Since then Ezekiel Butler have been playing live all over the UK. Their performances are lively, harmonious and incredibly fun to watch. One gig in London proved to be a success when Record Producer, John Perkins of IMMG records spotted them playing and signed them on the spot to record their debut album which is due to be released later this year. The single which is available now features three songs from the album, due to be released later this year. This has reached number 5 in the Soundclick charts.
They recently headlined Camden’s famous Dublin Castle and will be back there on 26th June 2010!
