"You need to hear this new single from Ezra Jordan 'Lonely Now'"

Ezra Jordan landed on our radar not too long ago and today the artist released 'Lonely Now', his first single of 2018 and it's quite the treat. The production from the start pulls you right in and follows a warm piano and a 4x4 drum beat. The track builds in intensity as Ezra joins in to deliver one of our favorite vocal performances. But what makes this track so special is Ezra's lyrical ability to relate to listeners. His harmonies, his verses, they capture the essence and frustration of love and feelings of loneliness beautifully. We're super excited for you to hear the song yourself and if you dig Ezra's sound, don't forget to connect with him online to stay up to date on any future releases in 2018. Enjoy! - Gems & Secrets

"CHATTERBOX: EZRA JORDAN"

Hey, tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m a 23 year old singer-songwriter from Toronto, Ontario. I come from a family of professional musicians/songwriters (grandfather, mother, father, sister) and I’ve been playing piano since I was 4 years old. Last year, I went to the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles and completed their Independent Artist Program. My biggest musical influences aside from my parents are John Mayer, D’Angelo, and Coldplay. Listening to them growing up shaped my sound into a blend of those 3 artists, so naturally I think that stylistically, my music falls between the genres of R&B, Pop, and more of a singer-songwriter style.

Where did the new single come from?

Only Got Eyes For Her started at my producer Sam Willows’ house when he showed me the verse chords and the bed of what grew into the drum groove. As we added more instrumentation, a story began to form in my head that actually drew on a past experience of mine out in Los Angeles shortly after I had broken up with my then girlfriend.

I had a girl from my school hitting on me pretty brazenly after she found out I was single. I felt awful shooting her down, and under different circumstances I probably wouldn’t have, but it was just too soon after ending my relationship to think about starting something else with another girl. Rejecting people is not a strong suit of mine, and afterword things were exceedingly awkward. If you’re reading this (she knows who she is) then I’m sorry!

Is there more content in the pipeline?

Yes! The plan right now is to release 2 more singles that I already have prepped and ready to drop when the time is right. Once those are out, the next release will be a full length album including the singles that are already out.

What’s on the horizon for me?

Working on my album and playing gigs around Toronto/surrounding towns are my 2 biggest priorities right now, to keep building up my following. I’m really happy to say that my first single Drag Me DOwn just cleared 60k plays on Spotify this past week, so I really want to keep this momentum going.

I also plan on travelling down to Nashville to hang with my sister and some people I love to work with. It’s a great town with lots of new people to write with and fried chicken to eat. - Purple Melon Music

"Toronto’s rising star, Ezra Jordan is starting 2018 with a new Pop single titled, “LONELY NOW.”"

With two singles under his belt, Ezra surprises us with another single to begin the new year. “LONELY NOW” is like a new year’s resolution: Saying goodbye to old relationships and looking forward to new ones. Both catchy and powerful, we can all think of that one person you’d sing this to.

Lonely Now began about 2 years with the guitar riff you hear right at the beginning. Ezra was playing around on his laptop with a MIDI-controlled guitar sample and came up with it by accident. As soon as he heard it, he knew there was something there. The original version leaned more towards an alternative/country vibe and because of that, he thought it would be a song written for another artist.

“The inspiration for the song concept stemmed from a real-life relationship. There was a girl in my life that I shared a tumultuous, on-and-off again relationship with. I truly believe that she had only good intentions, but at that time I really felt as though I had been underappreciated and kept on the hook for longer than I should have. When I finally got out of there, she suddenly wanted me back, and I was very happy to have the roles reversed for a change.” - Ezra - Stopify

Bio

Ezra Jordan is a Canadian singer, songwriter and piano player from Toronto, Ontario, and
a graduate of the Independent Artist Program at the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California. Ezra blends the genres of R&B and alt-pop with his keyboard-oriented approach to writing songs to create a style that is soulful, refreshing, and authentic.

The son of renowned Canadian music icons Marc Jordan (Rod Steward, Josh Groban) and Amy Sky (Heart, Olivia-Newton John), Ezra has been surrounded by music since his earliest days. He took up piano at the age of 4, and although he also learned to play guitar and drums while growing up, piano remained his main instrument.

At the age of 18, Ezra suffered a traumatic and life-threatening sports injury to his leg. He was waterskiing and completely destroyed his knee. Due to the extensive soft tissue, nerve, and vascular damage, he required emergency surgery to save my life and avoid amputation. During the 18-month recovery process, he was unable to properly sit at a piano, which forced him to put a hold on his classical piano training. Seeking a different musical outlet, Ezra turned to singing and writing songs, which he immediately had a knack for. With his newfound singing ability and an innate sense for songwriting, Ezra then joined Juno- nominated singer-songwriter Scott Helman as his keyboard player and backup singer.

After his stint with Scott Helman, Ezra moved to Los Angeles to attend the Musician’s Institute and focus on his solo career. He successfully completed their Independent Artist Program and returned to Toronto, where he is making a name for himself playing gigs all over the city. Since March 2017, Ezra has released 3 singles, that have been well received by his fans. To add to his success, Spotify put him on several of their staff-curated playlists, including the Contemporary Blend Playlist, sharing the spotlight with some of his biggest influences such as John Mayer and Ed Sheeran.

With deep musical bloodlines and a fresh take on pop music, Ezra Jordan is only just scratching the surface of his musical potential.
