Bio

As Canadian Hip-Hop continues to grow in the city of Toronto and throughout the world, evolution can only occur with change. The norms and regular boundaries must be explored, and limits must be pushed to achieve “that” unique blend of sound, creativity, talent and musical relevance. F1rst Class is not only a duo that will help push the parameters of Hip-Hop music, they are a revolutionary group that will help build on this new wave of Canadian talent and share it across the globe.

Formed in 2006, Shayne Walker (Shay Dubbz) and Ceyion King (C Money aka Kingpen) are graduates of both the system and the streets. Raised in the village of Malton, home to homicide, stealing and drug wheeling; mind elevation and education amongst black youths is not often achieved. Yet through the fire, these two multi-talented artists share their perspective of their journey from ash to class, from worst to first, and deliver this message in a style like none other.

With both members being born of Jamaican heritage, Reggae music was always prevalent within their upbringing. From Beres Hammond to Bob Marley, dancehall and roots music had an influence on both their childhoods. However, growing up in the mid 90’s, and hearing the likes of Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls, Snoop Dogg and Outkast amongst others; it is understandable that a combination of both Hip-Hop and Reggae would be the sound that the two would eventually embrace in their music.

Blending their lyrical intricacy, prowess and wit over the soulful yet cultural percussions, F1rst Class demonstrates not only their cultural ideals, but a polished yet appropriate display of music fit for the times and beyond.

F1rst Class has collaborated with local/international talents such as Kid Kut, Ray Robinson, Lindo P and others.

Although the Greater Toronto Area is known around the world for its diversity, the direction of F1rst Class is to share their musical culture and innovative style with the world; separating themselves while leaving thier own imprint on Hip-Hop in Toronto.
