Faaip

Beat Programmer and gifted musician Faaip, grew up listening to punk and has been involved in making music since age 13. Other than making electronic, techno, dance, trance, music, he plays bass and other stringed instruments which he incorporates into his songs.

Faaip started going to punk rock shows at about 12 years old. He had a lot of mohawks and other punk gear as a child. A crazy little punk rocker, he went to Catholic school and loved reading the classics by Vonnegut, Danielewski (House of Leaves was a huge part of his life) and Palahniuk.

His music career is beginning to break out big! Among many influences:  Pretty Lights, Aphex Twin, and rockers Postal Service.

He hails from South Haven, MI, a super small town, where he lived near the beach and could always be found at the state park, fooling around.

Faaip currently resides in Olympia, WA, where he is manager and production supervisor at a chemical company.

He started out just messing around with fruity loops and found he preferred making music by himself as that made it easier for him to focus and get his exact vision across. It started off as a side hobby that blossomed into his full on passion

When he was very young, Faaip was in a little punk band, "The Headliners". At 14 he started a funk band with his friends that really ignited his interest in seriously exploring new and exciting styles and modes of music.

He focused on school for several years and when he was 22, in Lansing MI, Faaip was in an indie, alternative band, Alco, for a couple years. He started his electronic work in the band and they were thrilled to play with rocking bands such as Days of the New, The Verve Pipe, Bang Camaro, and Electric Six.

Faaip loves mixing together many different types of music. It's dark yet dancy, avant garde yet embracing many tastes. He's inspired to make music that matches his emotions and he is always open to collaborations.

He recorded a small EP "Physics" when he was in Alco, and since then has been releasing songs as he makes them. Most recently he put together some of his favorite songs and mastered them for an EP, "Passing By", available on iTunes.

Faaip really likes slap bass and anything funky. Stuff that is "out there", things that make listeners stop and think, "How did he do that?" He enjoys playing very technical music in classic fast style and he had fun learning metal songs from bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder and Razor X. And even crazy songs from Rancid and Primus.

Faaip loves making music because it allows him to express every range of his emotions that he can't otherwise share with people.

Seeing the most awesome shows at a really young age, he remembers going to the punk/rock Warped tour at age 12 and seeing punkers NOFX and having his life changed, knowing that all he wanted to do was be on stage.

Ideas for songs spring mainly from a culmination of resentment and hardcore emotions. Faaip also gets great energy from sitting in nature and absorbing any environment he is in, and believes in an empowering energy in the universe that everyone can attach to and be one together.

Through his music, Faaip lets people who feel they don't fit in know that there is a way to find your true self and not feel so left out and isolated,

Faaip worked really hard back in Michigan to earn his degree in biochemistry. And right now, his goals are to be a kick ass rocking scientist musician who doesn't just make music, but is also well rounded.
