Biography

This is a story all about passion, intensity and honesty. About five people who would give their lives for what they believe in. FACE TOMORROW is not about getting famous and not about following the latest trend. In a musical landscape clouded by fake emotions, prefab crap and money-keen puppets on strings, Face Tomorrow could be the silver lining.

“With hard work, being dedicated to what we believe in, playing everywhere we can, we’re trying to reach more and more people every time. By giving shows with a heart, by writing songs with a heart and by making records with a heart.”, explains guitarplayer Aart Face Tomorrow’s leitmotif.

And it shows, after having played over 250 shows over the last two years, Face Tomorrow can undoubtedly be called one of Holland's most successful alternative bands. Their debut album ‘For who you are’ is a collection of 12 perfectly structured songs with a highly addictive sound ranging from utter silence to heavy dragging outbursts and aggressive noise blasts. Whilst the band flips around the musical landscape, not caring who they upset along the way, the unprecedented passionate vocals are impossible to escape from. With contemplative lyrics dealing with all the features of the emotional spectrum, wrapped up in memorable melodies and heart-broken explosions, the album grabs you by the throat and just wouldn’t let go.

The release of ‘For who you are’, released June 6, 2002 on Reflections Records, was a perfect mixture of emotion, intensity, passion, power and melody. The record got raving reviews, and the single 'Worth the Wait' got airplay all over Europe. It entered the Rockcharts at number 1 on music station The Box and spent weeks in several charts like Kink FM's Outlaw 41. Face Tomorrow went on to play almost all major festivals and stages in The Netherlands and Belgium, building up an impressive reputation for their intense and electrifying live shows. But also the rest of Europe got notice pretty fast. American band AFI took them along on their UK tour where Face Tomorrow played a sold out London Astoria at the NME Awards and did several successful tours throughout Europe.

And now Face Tomorrow is back with a new album entitled ‘The closer you get’ and a new single and music video for the song ‘Sign Up’. Although the expectations had ran high, Face Tomorrow have really surpassed themselves. Exhibiting a coherency, intensity and emotional depth that is at times breathtaking, ‘The Closer You Get’ is a spherical and honest monument of extremes, hooks, melodies and rock. Moving from wistful nostalgia through unguarded introspection, to impotent rage through helpless despair, 'The Closer You Get' is in essence an attempt at resolution.

“I think we’ve managed to convey a wide musical spectrum on this record, but that we were able to press our own stamp on it even more. The songs are more balanced, the dynamics are better and all the pieces just fit together the way we wanted.”, says singer Jelle. Guitarplayer Marc adds: “It’s such a cliché, but I truly think we matured and made a serious and grown-up record. We’ve learned to work with the possibilities of the studio much better to add a specific feeling and atmosphere to the songs. By using backing vocals and additional instruments we were able to give the songs more depth where necessary. And eventually this record is way more spherical and thought through. It has more contrast but is on the other hand also more an entirety. We can’t wait to perform the songs live!”

And the band doesn’t have to wait long for that. The release of ‘The closer you get’ on may 11 will be followed by an extensive promotour throughout the year. Backed up by the unbelievably catchy and uplifting first single ‘Sign Up’, there’s a very, very small chance you will miss out on Face Tomorrow this year!
