"Fading Doubt"

FADING DOUBT
I rarely do shout-outs...actually, I think this is my first...but these guys are well worth it.

Fading Doubt is a contemporary/rock Christian band from Oakland, MD (total coincidence here that I'm from MD as well). They're just beginning to get together their first mini-album, and I'm telling you, these guys sound great, and I'm predicting they'll be huge someday.

I found them as I was surfing the net, and happened upon the most amazing Christian music site I've seen. IndieHeaven.com is a website where independent Christian musicians can showcase their work to the public, including offering for sale any albums they've done.

Anyway, I found this site, and just started surfing through alphabetically (clearly, I had WAY too much time on my hands), and occasionally clicking on artists whose bios caught my attention. That's how I noticed Fading Doubt. The introductory lines of their bio read, "With a sound similar to those of Jeremy Camp, MercyMe, and Tree63, Fading Doubt looks to use their catchy hooks and heartfelt melodies to help "doubters" grow stronger in their faith...." Having struggled a lot with my faith in my early 20's, I have always been drawn to music that encourages those who struggle and question, rather than bashes them over the head with condemnation. So, I clicked on them, listened to one of their songs, and was totally impressed with the quality of their work.

You can find their personal site at IndieHeaven HERE. You can read about them there and listen to samples of their music. If you have any interest in supporting independent Christian artists, you've got to visit IndieHeaven. They have a complete range of music styles, from mellow to rock, in all genres. As an independent Christian writer (read: published in a non-traditional way), I am all for supporting these people. There's a lot of talent there, and, you know, it takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there like that (Robin, you should sign up there!).

So, back to Fading Doubt.

They've just launched their new website, Fading Doubt. I've also put a link to it in the sidebar. It's a great place to visit! You can learn all about the band, preview their music, order their EP, which they'll get to you by Christmas, and lots more. The only thing the site doesn't have is a link to their lyrics. But I'm a visual learner, and like to read the lyrics of songs. It helps drive home the message more to me.

On the website, the band writes,

"The best part about being in this band is just taking a step back and watching the whole thing go full-circle....We're thankful that God grants us all of the hours of time that we put towards this ministry. Its been a short road thus far, and we know we have a long way to go, but we truly feel that through God we can accomplish anything. Whether it be planting seeds in their hearts, or full-on bringing people to Christ, we strongly believe that our music can bring that kind of impact."

And, you know, that's what it's all about. Doing what you believe God is leading you to do, regardless of what the odds, and leaving the results in His hands.

Bio

Hailing from western Maryland, the pop/rock band Fading Doubt was organized in August 2005. Composed of members Nathan Friend (vocals, guitar, piano), Jason Lottmann (drums, percussion), and Aaron Drabnis (bass), Fading Doubt’s mission, as their name suggests, is to use their music to help strengthen those who struggle in their faith, both spiritually and personally. Influenced by such artists as Third Eye Blind, Building429, Jeremy Camp, Sanctus Real, Good Charlotte, U2,The Fray, and Jimmy Eat World, Fading Doubt blends heartfelt lyrics and emotional music to reach those for whom the world is not painted in black and white, but shades of gray. By touching on topics such as faith, love, doubt, and self-reflection, Fading Doubt has developed a strong fanbase of those who can relate to their message.
Soon after their inception, Fading Doubt found themselves on the path to success, receiving several honors, including being chosen as one of Band With A Mission’s 25 best unsigned bands of 2006, as well as being chosen as a nationalist in the Exalting Him 2006 National Competition.

In the short time they’ve been together, the band has toured extensively around the nation, opening for such artists as Building429, Sanctus Real, DecembeRadio, SuperChick, John Reuben, Last Tuesday, Jessie Daniels, and StorySide B. Their fan base, however, extends across the nation, and their music can be heard on radio stations along the East Coast.

In late 2006, Fading Doubt released their first full-length album, entitled Blue Eyed Soul. Independently produced and released, the album has quickly become one of the top-selling albums for independent artists.
