Bio

Background

Faint Reflection is a Canadian modern rock band from Toronto, Ontario, formed in late 2009 by founding members Mark Fitz (Guitars) and Joni Taupier (Drums). They spent countless hours writing and composing to create 27 demo tracks boiled down to a 10-track demo disk from which they released samples to the general public for review. Positive feedback led them to conduct a professional studio production to attract a professional label.

By the spring of 2010, Mark Fitz had been in contact with various labels and producers trying to find the right sound for their 10-track demo and assist in having it re-created into a radio-friendly and marketable investment. Mark Fitz appreciated the candor and professionalism of Voodoo Records producer, Mike Dmitrovich (“Mike D”). Joni Taupier and Mark Fitz signed the recording and marketing contract to Voodoo Records as a current "two piece" group.

Once the contracts were signed and initialed, it was time to commence Mike D's production of Faint Reflection. With Mike D’s guidance, the next few months were spent painstakingly working on Faint Reflection’s signature sounds and properly tracking them in the three basic elements of drums, stage 1 guitars, and bass. By late 2010, Mark Fitz and Joni Taupier were ready to begin scouting for the missing components of Faint Reflection: lead vocalist and bassist. After countless auditions in early 2011, Mike Paolini (lead vocalist) and Ray Dahan (bassist) filled Faint Reflection’s roster of talent.

Band in Motion

Faint Reflection is hard at work in the studio producing their debut album, “Breaking the Silence”, whose completion is anticipated in 2011. In the meantime, they have also been performing at Toronto venues. In the spring, the band participated in a charity event for the homeless at the legendary El Mocambo. They later performed in the Universal Music Showcase at The Mod Club. Not only has the band established their sound and lighting crew, a music video will be filmed at their first headliner show, Anarchy, at The Opera House in August. Their national tour kick off is planned for 2011/2012.

Their website, www.faintreflection.com, reveals the band’s style and philosophy. It also provides sample tracks from the upcoming album. An interview with Mark Fitz was featured in Live N Loud Magazine in May. The band’s EPK has been released and management deals are in the works.

Band Members

Mike Paolini (Lead Vocals)
Mike started off singing in high school bands, then cover bands back in Sudbury, Ontario. He progressed to touring in a Pearl Jam cover band that toured Canada.

Moving on from covers, Mike started writing original music with his former band, The Only Factor. After touring and opening for The Trews, he landed in Toronto where he continued to pursue his dream. Fast forward to January 2011, Mike and Faint Reflection were united. Sparks flew and the conquest began…

Mike’s influences are Pearl Jam, Creed, Days of the New, STP, Soundgarden, 90s grunge rock and pretty much anything that rocks, such as Theory of a Dead Man and Nickelback.

Mark Fitz (Guitars)
A wide-ranged guitar player, the Toronto, Ontario native was raised in a musical family. Mark’s father, Scott Fitzgerald, was a Country Folk star in The Rhythm Kings, a successful band of Mark’s grandfather, Robert Fitzgerald. Mark started developing his love of guitar in the spring of 1992, learning to play his first cover song, “Hotel California”. In high school, Mark enrolled in several music theory courses at music institutes to further develop his skills. He has been influenced by various artists and genres, from 90s rock to modern mainstream: Soundgarden, Weezer, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Creed, Bush X, Moist, Filter, STP, Alice in Chains, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Chevelle, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, and the list goes on.

Mark’s first real rock project was “Mercury Rising” from 1999-2001. The 4-piece alternative band played high school gigs and three Battle of the Band events, two of which the band took first place titles. From 2001-2005, Mark played alongside different acts trying to break into the music industry. In 2006, Mark created/formed a melodic rock band called “Crimson Dayze”. The five-piece band crafted an E.P. of six original songs and toured Toronto’s music venues. While the band had gained media exposure, plans for further professional development were extinguished in 2009 when the band parted ways due to irreconcilable differences. From 2009 to present – Mark Fitz forms a new modern rock band, Faint Reflection.

Joni Taupier (Drums)
Joni immigrated to Brampton, Ontario from Cuba when he was 16. He discovered a love for drums at 8 when he drummed on the back of a busted toy guitar. It somehow made the sounds he wanted to
