Biography

A melodic indie rock outfit, the Fairburn Royals came together in December 2000 when the members were students in Athens, GA. From 2000-2005, they released three albums on Atlanta’s Two Sheds Music and performed all over the east coast, including opening slots for My Morning Jacket, Iron and Wine, and Imperial Teen. The Royals split in 2005 when members got married, had children, and moved away.

However, after singer Matt Lisle returned to Georgia in 2016, the band found themselves all living in the same state again. Monthly practice sessions resulted in new songs, and now production has begun on a fourth album in drummer Jason Eshelman’s home studio.

Starting out as basically a four-track project, the band's sound is characterized as rough-around-the-edges pop.

Jason also plays in Athens, GA bands The Eskimos.
