Bio

The guys in Fairday are thankful that they all got jobs as soon as they started college. Not only did they all happen to be working at the same place, it also happened to be a working environment that all college guys would be jealous of…an all-girls dorm at the University of Texas in Austin. It was there, in between waiting and dishwashing shifts in the dorm’s cafeteria, that they decided to start a band.

Initially going by “The Waiter Band”, the guys began writing and recording songs in hopes of eventually breaking out into the Austin scene. After conveniently meeting a bass player, the former boyfriend of a dorm resident, the band was complete and officially titled “Fairday”. From there, the guys began their musical quest with open-mics, Wednesday nights at heavy-metal dives, and a couple battle-of-the-bands. Fairday eventually paid its dues and was able to become a regular visitor to the Mecca of live music, 6th Street in Austin, Texas.

After a songwriting spree in the summer of 2006, the track “Familiar Stranger” struck the interest of local producer/engineer CJ Eiriksson (Jack’s Mannequin, Live, Something Corporate). Spending three days at a studio in nearby Dripping Springs, the band completed its first project with CJ, an EP titled “Where to Now?” released later that year.
