Bio

We play a fresh mix of Celtic, folk and bluegrass tunes, along with our original material. We have wonderful vocal harmonies in our songs, and we have a fun blend of instruments in our arrangements. For instance, flute and concertina sound great together!

Erick Feucht has been actively playing mandolin, fiddle and guitar in this area for the past several years. His interests include bluegrass and old-time music along with Celtic themes. A passionate jammer, Erick is happiest in musical settings that challenge his creativity and expand his knowledge in new ways. Fairfield Crossing indulges Erick's long time love of Irish and Scottish song and dance music, allowing him to explore the subtleties of this endearing musical genre. Erick lives in Newtown and is, along with his wife, Kim, the owner of Stockbridge & Berry Home Furnishings in Monroe and Southbury.

Julie Sorcek has been playing flute since she was ten years old, and has been off and running ever since. Her love of folk and Celtic music stems from childhood, and she very much enjoys the opportunity to play music from both of these genres with Fairfield Crossing. A full time performing musician, Julie also plays with the contra dance band The Reel Thing, where she adds saxophone and occasionally bodhran to the musical mix, and with the folk trio Chicks 'n Sync. She is becoming well known on the Connecticut contra musicians' circuit, having played as a guest artist with the contra dance bands Jane's Gang, Groovemama and Out on a Whim, and also having appeared at the NOMAD (NOrtheast Music and Dance) Festival in New Haven, CT, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival with Groovemama. Julie is currently the band director at Immaculate High School in Danbury, and also runs a monthly acoustic music jam in Sandy Hook. She lives with her husband and teenage son in Bethel.

Britt Goodman is originally from the Midwest. She was introduced to contra dance music after moving to Connecticut and has been playing and dancing ever since. She plays hammered dulcimer and English concertina with Fairfield Crossing, with the trio Chicks 'n Sync, and with the HCD Contra Jammers. A founding member of the Nefesh Klezmer Band, Britt plays piano and dulcimer at weddings, bar mitzvahs and fundraisers, and can be heard on the Nefesh CD "Unplucked".

Robin Reid brings a driving guitar and vocals founded in the bluegrass tradition to Fairfield Crossing. She is also a member of Chicks 'n Sync, and is a frequent contra dancer.

Louis Audette joins us on upright bass, and we are delighted that he is able to lend his talents to our group. He also plays with the ZuZazz String Orchestra, and the country blues band Cornbread.
