"Fairmona"

"With particularly catchy guitar riffs and a very loveable way of drawing you in with the m/f shared vocals, Fairmona are set to infect every ear pressed to every speaker. Using only drums, guitar, and vocals (forget the White Stripes comparisons) they've managed to make the music sound larger than it is, full of quick changes and sharp stops. Songs about insects, handshakes, and Christina Aguilera make it clear that this duo have fun making music and without doubt communicate that. One of the most enjoyable listens I've had and a great teaching in how to execute pop music with reckless punk overtones smoothly and correctly."

"Preview"

“ True to their stated Myspace motto "Duo is the new Trio," the Los Angeles twosome Fairmona make the most of their stripped down format, and then some. It's impressive enough that they write multi-dimensional power pop as clever as anything by the New Pornographers. But even more remarkable is that drummer Barbara Gruska and guitarist Marcel Camargo hold down their tricky instrumental and vocal duties simultaneously while remaining Ziploc tight. Extra points for the cheeky between-song banter, too. This is the first installment of Fairmona's five-week residency at Tangier, so give 'em a warm welcome by requesting "Genital Handshake," their charming ode to post-breakup sex.”

Discography

One self titled EP, we're working on a full-length now. Haven't decided on the single yet...we did play a show at KXLU where they just let us go on our own for like an hour. There was no DJ, we were just talking to each other. It was funny...

Bio

We're all friends that met each other playing with other bands. We've been working as musicians for a couple of years but wanted to do something that was our own, so this is what we came up with.

We love this band because we love the songs, the hang and we always have a blast playing shows and being completely ridiculous onstage. I think that's one of the reasons why people come to see us, because we have a lot of fun.

Influences...early Police, Bjork, Joanna Newsome, Elliott Smith, Radiohead, Nirvana, Sigur Ros, Sufjan Stevens, comedy, our peers/friends: Hour of the Shipwreck, B.R.A.M, Benji Hughes, Colorforms, Eagle and Talon, Fascinoma, Grizzly Bear, Bird and the Bee, the usual suspects: Beatles, Stones, Stevie, Jimmy Hendrix, Zeppelin, AC/DC
