Bio
Fairstone are a post-rock/experimental band from London. They formed in 2011 in a disparate situation that involved commutes between Cambridge and Manchester. Their music ebbs and flows between reverberated guitar picking and surging hooks. With few vocal lines, it is the band’s collective playing that lends a tangible depth to the music, and their live performances aim to entrance as much as impress. Influences include instrumental aficionados Mogwai and The Six Parts Seven, and within the five tracks of their self-titled EP, the mood effortlessly moves from gloriously upbeat to dark and oppressive.
This year the band have recruited a keyboard and trumpet player. This lends a greater depth to the music, producing an emotive sound with richer textures – a welcome evolution for the band, that wish to move further than their guitar-based grounding.
