We sing a blend of traditional & modern folk/gospel music. Most of our songs are original but we always include enough familiar pieces to keep an audience anchored and participating. We love the music and being with people and this shines through.

Biography

Faithful Folk began as a concert in 2002, and has grown into a group with tremendous power to touch lives. We continue to see the diverse ways Faithful Folk can positively affect our communities and world, and we look forward to sharing this gift with you!

Woke Up This Mornin'/Riverside

Written By: Traditional

Woke Up/Riverside

Solo: Well, I woke up this mornin’ with my mind, stayed on Jesus.

Woke up this mornin’ with my mind, stayed on Jesus.

Woke up this mornin’ with my mind, stayed on Jesus; Hallelu, hallelu, hallelujah.

(add antiphony and harmony)

Singin’ and prayin’ with my mind, (my mind) stayed on Jesus.

Singin’ and prayin’ with my mind, (my mind) stayed on Jesus.

Singin’ and prayin’ with my mind, (my mind) stayed on Jesus; Hallelu, (hallelu) hallelu, (hallelu) hallelujah.

Walkin’ and talkin’ with my mind…..

(Instrumental break)

Preachin’ and teachin’…

(transition)
I’m gonna’ lay down my sword and shield, down by the riverside (down by),
Down by the riverside (down by), down by the riverside;

I’m gonna’ lay down my sword and shield, down by the riverside, down by the riverside.

||: I ain’t gonna’ study war no more, ain’t gonna’ study war no more, ain’t gonna study war no more :||

I’m gonna’ put aside my cares and woes…..

I’m gonna’ talk with the Prince of Peace…

I’m gonna’ sing with the angel band…

I’m gonna’ walk and talk with the risen Lord….

Drifting in Time

Written By: Tobias Anderson

Drifting in Time

Here I am, falling apart at the seams, I’ll come together again at the start.
Here I sit, ponder eternal themes, heart wants to sing, like a sparrow or lark.

Chorus
Here I go, out on my own again, here I look to see how things might lie.
Here I go, out on my own, adrift in the river, I’m drifting the river of time.

Fireflies like answers beneath my fingertips, I seek to touch them without being burned.
Moonlight rising reveals my weaknesses, compassion and patience what I need to learn.

Chorus

Bridge
Na na na na n-na na . . .

Your look at me, breaks my heart in twain. I seek to gather loose ends from the pain.
But your bright manner, falls like endless rain, pulls me together to look at the world.

Chorus

Bridge

In time.

Walk On

Written By: Tobias Anderson

Walk On

Gonna lay down, lay down, lay down my burdens,
Lay down my burdens, lay down my burdens.
I’m gonna lay down, lay down, lay down my burdens,
Walk on in the peace of the Lord.

Gonna step out, step out, step out of my sinful ways,
Step out of my sinful ways, step out of my sinful ways.
I’m gonna step out, step out, step out of my sinful ways,
Walk on in the peace of the Lord.

I’m gonna rise up singin’, glory hallelujah,
Glory hallelujah, glory hallelujah.
Gonna rise up singin’, glory hallelujah,
Walk on in the peace of the Lord.

For I’ve been freed by the power of the Spirit,
Power of the Spirit, power of the Spirit.
Yes I’ve been freed by the power of the Spirit,
Walk on in the peace of the Lord.

Yes I have seen the grace and the glory,
Grace and the glory, grace and the glory,
Yes I have seen the grace and the glory,
Walk on in the peace of the Lord.

Yes I’ve been touched by the grace and the glory,
Grace and the glory, grace and the glory.
Yes I’ve been touched by the grace and the glory,
Walk on in the peace of the Lord.
Walk on in the peace of the Lord.
Walk on in the peace of the Lord.

I Want to Sing

Written By: Tobias Anderson

I Want to Sing

I want to sing, I want to bring to the world, the message of God’s love.
I want to sing, I want to bring to the world, the message of God’s love.
I want to sing of the glories of the Lord, and tell of all that God has done.
I want to bring the message of God’s story, of Christ Jesus, his son who died for us.
I want to sing, I want bring to the world the message of God’s love.

I want to walk through the valley of temptation; by God’s grace I shall not be lost.
I want to walk onward to salvation, by God’s grace I’ll reach the other side.
I want to break free the chains that bind me, yet I know, God, it’s You who sets me free.
I want to live a life that is worthy, yet I know, God, all that’s worthy comes by You.
I want to walk onward to salvation, by God’s grace I’ll reach the other side.

I want to run, want to run, want to run to the Lord, cling to God who teaches me to fly.
I want to fly on the wings of salvation; a life in Christ is a life that shall not die.
I want to sing of the glories of the Lord, and tell of all that God has done.
I want to bring the message of God’s story, of Christ Jesus, his son who died for us.
I want to sing, with heart and soul I’m praising; God’s truth has and will set us free.

Life's Sweets

Written By: Tobias Anderson

Chorus: It's no wonder, life grows sweeter every day,
And I ponder, the gifts along life's pathway;
And the sweetest gift that's given, are secrets no longer hidden, and freedom, freedom.

Be the champion, the watcher never tired, ceaseless sorter, put our conscience to the fire,
"Know thyself" and maybe even more, learn to say "sorry" when another's been made sore.

Chorus

Like the bitter root, that's not bitter in the end, the hand that beckons you, is the hand of a friend.
Medicine you've taken, hear it with wisdom, don't shake it, let it carry you, carry you.

Let's go down the mountain, see what we shall find.
Let's go down the mountain, reach the other side.
I want to go where I've never been,
I want to see what I've never seen-
Could it be my freedom, my freedom?
