Bio
Faith Purvis has been performing her music consistently since 2002. The daughter of a classical pianist mother and a jazz guitarist father, Purvis was trying to play the piano at her house before she was old enough to reach the keys.
With songs ranging from a smooth, bluesy, lost-love lament to a honky-tonk style tune about an old Utah mountain man, Faith Purvis carries the audience through a vast musical landscape. A wispy, witchy serenade, a Chopinesque waltz, a wild, lusty rock song, a deep, sweet hymn to the open land of the West. She’ll take you there.
Calling the West her home, Faith Purvis grew up in Oregon and has lived in several other Western states. In 2002, she moved from the Northwest to Flagstaff, Arizona, where she recorded her first release, Songs for Canyons, an album infused with the spirit of the canyons and deserts of the Southwest.
Since recording Songs for Canyons in 2003, Faith Purvis has been supporting her release, playing in venues ranging from festivals to brew pubs to intimate coffeehouses, from Arizona to Texas. A move to Austin, Texas, in early 2005 has brought Faith Purvis and her music into the center of a vibrant music scene.
