Bio
Falu has the rare ability to seamlessly blend a signature rock style with a formidable classically shaped talent. From rapid, striking notes to soft, flowing melodies, her vocal and stylistic ranges vary with ease.
Born Falguni Shah in Bombay, Falu has practiced music since the age of three under legendary sarangi/vocal master Ustad Sultan Khan. In 1999, Falu moved to Boston where she joined the Indo-American band Karyshma as their lead vocalist. She met up with acclaimed DJ Karsh Kale in 2001 becoming a featured vocalist on several albums and tours. While Falu continues to perform her classical Indian material throughout the United States, her main passion lies in bringing her classical Indian roots to contemporary American music.
In Falu’s latest incarnation, she is joined by an array of talented musicians including Mark Tewarson (Guitar), Justin Wallace (Bass), Greg Gonzalez (Drums), Borahm Lee (Keyboards) & Gaurav Shah (Vocals/Flute/Harmonium). They have taken New York City by storm with several high profile, sold-out appearances. Falu has been invited to perform with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project and is currently serving as one of Carnegie Hall’s Music Ambassadors to New York City.
