Improvisational journey...
Family Cash was begun as a folksy solo-act, but with each member that has joined since 2017, the sound has evolved into a flourish of mostly dreamy, sometimes aggressive rock. Singer / guitarist Max De Maria originally set out to play music that paid homage to the likes of Neil Young, indie-folk, and contemporary rock of the 2000's. But every member of the band has contributed to the Family Cash sound, which is now completely different from what was originally envisioned.
With a genuine emphasis on live performance, Family Cash makes a high energy, explosive show seem effortless. A Family Cash song is like its own world; the rhythm section thundering and thumping, guitars that weave in and out of rhythm and lead roles (sometimes meeting in moments of dual guitar harmonies reminiscent of Thin Lizzy), and a "reverb-ed" out backdrop that serves as an adequate canvas for soaring vocals are all par for the course. Los Angeles has taken kindly to Family Cash with a dedicated audience that engage the music not only as fans, but as a group of people bound by something stronger than your average rock band.
Following their debut EP, "Peep" (2020), Family Cash have recently wrapped their second EP "Highly Peepable", and are planning to release accompanying music videos.
All this to say, Family Cash's real mission as a rock band is to provide a refreshing and new musical space for people to temporarily escape into to feel truly held.
