"Family Lines"

"Like all families, Family Lines has history. And what a history it is. As a professional actress Susan Nielsen shared the stage with Bob Hope, Merv Griffin, Bill Cosby, and other national stars before shifting gears and getting back to her musical roots as a vocalist and composer. Tim McDonald has been honing his singing and guitar picking skills since he was just a kid. He played lead in several Bay area groups, including Axis and The King's Men, before going it alone as a solo artist. And string master Ken Frankel has been part of the California music scene since the 60s, performing with music notables such as Jerry Garcia, Richard Green, Rick Shubb, Sandy Rothman, Robert Hunber, and Tom Constanten. Put 'em together and what have you got? A trio that performs outstanding original music as well as folk, blues, and roots favorites. This acoustic family features rich vocal harmonies that blend somewhere beyond the DNA. Family Lines delivers lively and riveting performances that'll get you out of your seats and make you feel like--well, like family." - San Francisco Old Time And Bluegrass Festival

Still working on that hot first release.

Family Lines trio is one of the hottest new bands on the S.F. Bay Area music scene. Since their spring 2008 debut, this trio of seasoned musicians has graced the stages of top venues as well as festivals, night clubs and private events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The band was featured at San Francisco Bluegrass and Old Time Festivals in 2010 and 2011, and has a rapidly growing following of loyal fans.

Centered on exquisite vocal harmonies, this trio delivers a big sound that includes guitars, banjo, mandolin, ukulele bass and fiddle. Performing American music from many eras, the band thrills audiences with a diverse mix of music which includes contemporary country, sassy blues, old-time folk, Southern spirituals and impressive original tunes.

In the tradition of the Everly Brothers, and other family duos, the magic of DNA is at work in the scintillating vocal duets of siblings Susan Nielsen and Tim McDonald. String master Ken Frankel switches instruments throughout sets, creating a diversity of sound that keeps audiences riveted. One can’t help but be uplifted by this band’s sheer joy of performance, love of music and uniquely compelling sound.
