There is always something exciting about seeing a new band or artist perform. Not quite knowing what to expect, not having any preconceived opinions. Going to a gig with a blank piece of paper and watching a performance that is raw, stripped of gimmicks and special effects and unsullied. Just one man and his guitar…oh and iPhone!
Famous Jack is the alter-ego of young and talented musician Anthony Castells. With influences ranging from Bob Dylan and Joy Division to MGMT and Lady Gaga, and there is definitely a splash of 80’s Electronica in some of his tracks.
The first official performance from Famous Jack sees him showcasing songs in a funky and punk-esque bar in the heart of London, Zigfrid Von Underbelly. The crowds were drawn in like a moth to a flame; a relaxing setting with pleasant company listening to the hypnotic sounds of Famous Jack - a perfect Sunday evening.
Famous Jack is a cool and quirky artist, with a vocal ability ranging from, the slight operatic, deep and dark tones of Ian Curtis (Joy Division) or Tom Smith (Editors) to the gentle and almost angelic tone heard from the likes of Jose Gonzalez and Julio Iglesias. Branded with a trademark cross over his face and matching nail varnish Famous Jack incorporates a blend of eccentricity and something quite endearing into his performance and stage presence. His songs reveal heartfelt lyrics, with a mixture of love, turmoil and a touch of comical value; each word sung with the very emotion that it was penned with.
Famous Jack played; ‘Break Me Free’, ‘San Juan’, ‘Hey Girl’, ‘I Just Want To Be A Superstar’, ‘So Low, So High’ and for an encore at the crowd’s request ‘Break Me Free’ again.

Famous Jack is a brand new band created by 27 year-old Hispano-British artist, composer and musician Toni Castells. Famous Jack is Toni's latest artistic incarnation, bringing to light Toni's more fun-loving and self-absorbed side, who normally lies hidden behind a more spiritual, isolated and tortured self.
Famous Jack feeds from varied sources such as Bob Dylan, Yeasayer, Joy Division, MGMT, Hockey, Hot Chip, Lady Gaga, Natasha Khan and Julio Iglesias.
Famous Jack is regularly touring the London gig circuit,
a self-released debut EP is due in 2010. Famous Jack normally performs solo electro shows but can also perform acoustic sets of his songs.
