Bio

Refusing to conform to traditional hip-hop archetypes, FaN brings a much needed resurgence to mainstream hip hop and rap. Hailing from the heart of Lafayette, Louisiana, FaN started rapping at the tender age of 7 and by the age of 14 he was already recording his own mixtapes. Growing up on a rich buffet of musical influences, FaN developed a quick sense of what music should be and strayed far away from the overall negativity seen in the majority of his hip-hop and rap contemporaries and instead focused on positive overtones in his music that he knew would resonate with his fledgling fan base.

In 2009, FaN partnered with his lifelong friend and fellow artist D Gutta to form his own independent record label D.O.E. Records and named himself as CEO. D.O.E. Records—standing for Dream Out Everything, which encompasses his core philosophy that if you can dream something there’s nothing stopping you from making it a reality—served as a conduit for his vast musical capabilities and helped to harmonize the talent he had readily available to him including his brother IroQ, business partner D Gutta, longtime friend Smoke Greene and of course FaN’s phenomenal producer JayMusician whom he met in 2008.

In December 2010 he released his first official mixtape Weed, Money, Sex & Video Games (WMSV) on DatPiff.com. At the beginning of 2011, he met Toronto-based rapper Hue Jane through Twitter and signed him to D.O.E. Records shortly afterwards.

FaN has just completed work on his first original studio album Garcia Vegas & Zigzag Papers, which was released for free on November 2011, a mere month after dropping second mixtape Past Baked. Both are now available on iTunes.

FaN begins 2012 with a slate of new projects including collaboration albums with Hue Jane and IroQ along with helping to produce mixtapes for Smoke Greene and D Gutta.
