Biography

Fanna-Fi-Allah: Annihilation of the self into infinity.

Qawwali music is an ancient practice where the fire of divine love (ishq) is ecstatically expressed through the mystical verses of Sufi poets, sung in Urdu, Farsi, Hindi and Punjabi accompanied by two harmoniums, booming Pakistani tablas, hand clapping and the tampura. Fanna-Fi-Allah’s Tahir Qawwal and Amena Chishty Qawwal are the foremost disciples of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the greatest living Qawwali master of Pakistan, and Dildar Hussein, world renowned tabla master, both from the famous Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Qawwali party. From May through December of 2007, after finishing their understudy tour with these great masters, Fanna-Fi-Allah will be returning from Pakistan and India to perform concerts in the United States.
