Success is often associated with longevity. In the midst of celebrating their 12th year in the Canadian music industry, Faster Gun, a CCMA nominated group, epitomizes success in the music industry. Faster Gun has won 11 Saskatchewan Country Music awards and has had numerous singles chart on Canadian radio. The band averages about 50 shows a year and has probably played well over 500 shows in their 12 year career.
Formed by Dean Kush (Lead Vocals, Acoustic Guitar) and Aaron Habicht (Drums) in 1994 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada the band quickly became a very popular draw at clubs, cabarets, and major events across Canada.
After a very successful first year on the Canadian country music scene, Faster Gun recorded and released their debut album "Take a Chance". The album, released in early 1995, spawned 5 radio singles, and a video which received national airplay on CMT. The video was filmed for the first single "Holdin' On" which charted at #42. This song was followed by the charting singles "Workin' the Land", "River", "There's a Lot of Things" and "Take a Chance on Love".
With the release of the album "Take a Chance", Faster Gun kept extremely busy with live shows and promotion. The release of the album also led to a 30 minute television special by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). The show, titled Prairie Roadhouse was nationally televised in late 1995.
In 1998, Faster Gun released their second independent Album entitled "Something Real". This album received great response as a follow up to "Take a Chance". The album spawned the singles "Something Real", "Heart's Not Really In It", "Could You Love Me Girl", and "You Got Me".
In the summer of 2006 Faster Gun released their newest CD, "Back Again". This new CD has revealed the fact that Faster Gun has found its musical oasis! Most of the songs are written by the band's lead singer, Dean Kush. The songs have been compared to the Mavericks, Blue Rodeo and Steve Earle, but no one has been able to pin down a style beyond the band's own style!
