Faster Than Sound

BandFolkAcoustic

Faster Than Sound can be summed up as the music that results from all the songs and sounds that inspire me being processed in my head and poured out through my guitar and my voice a way I would want to hear them. Catchy vocal melodies and hooks with solid rhythm guitar are a recipe for great songs.

Biography

Faster Than Sound is a solo acoustic singer/songwriting project pouring one man's musical inspiration and experiences from his guitar and his voice into the world. 15 years of experience writing and performing original music in various styles has coloured the music with his influences and inspired the artist to make Faster Than Sound the raw, natural experience that comes from a solo composer delivering his songs directly from his guitar and voice.

Wall of Water

Written By: Faster Than Sound

On the breath of a breeze you float away from me,
like a petal from an outstretched hand,
higher and higher together into memory.

Oh, with eyelids closed tight you come back to me.
I see your face, your smile, your hand in my hair.
Sitting quietly together just until I wake.

And the water comes crashing down
while my life story's written
on this wall of falling water.'I hold my breath and get pulled under.

Wearing you on my sleeve you're always here with me
like a candle burning in your name.
Time will not fade how much your life meant to me.

Tears will wipe away.
You will be remembered.
Your face will not fade.
You will be remembered.

And the water comes crashing down
while my life story's written
on this wall of falling water.
I hold my breath and get pulled under.
All these streams of falling water.
I take a breath and live on in your honour.

Waiting

Written By: Faster Than Sound

Let the moonlight lie upon your skin.
It's the only way that I can see you in the dark.
Let the moonlight rest upon your skin
to caress you alongside my gentle hand.

And I've been waiting for this...
And I've been waiting for this...
I will be the moonlight.

Let the breeze whisper in your ear.
I'll accompany it with a harmony.
Let the cool breeze whisper in your ear
carrying the sweet smell of your hair to me.

And I've been waiting for this...
And I've been waiting for this...
I will be the moonlight.
I will be the breeze.

Just A Word

Written By: Faster Than Sound

Misery says, "I hope you stay forever,
because you're all that's keeping me in present-tense.
So I'll sew these seeds, self-depricating,
and watch them smother your innocence."

"You are what brings me to life.
You're all that gives me a life.
Your presence keeps me alive.
Without you, I am just a word."

Apathy comes and throws you to the ground now.
She pins your arms and renders you meaningless.
She'll be your critic and your censor and your broken dreams
but will not hesitate to confess:

"You are what brings me to life.
You're all that gives me a life.
Your presence keeps me alive.
Without you, I am just a word."

Amity says, "I need you more than ever.
You give me shape. You are my evidence.
So see the open arms around you
and boast my existence with providence."

"You are what brings me to life.
You're all that gives me a life.
Your presence keeps me alive.
Without you, I am just a word,
but together we could save the world."

Saturated

Written By: Faster Than Sound

You change like a weather-vane
on the edge of a hurricane
and send the whole world spinning.

A shift in pressure and you bring the rain
and then push back the clouds again,
and all to keep on winning.

Freezing rain pouring from sunny skies left me completely saturated.

A red sky morning should predict the day,
but we dress for sunshine anyway
because you feel like summer.

Gale winds start blowing, sleet burning skin,
the most violent storm that's ever been
sends us running for cover.

Freezing rain pouring from sunny skies left me saturated while it's warm outside where I should be.

And I don't know when the weather's going to change.
A different season every time I look away.
I'm going to take my weather with me today.
So I'll say:

"I'll take the sunshine, you keep the rain"

Freezing rain pouring from sunny skies left me saturated while it's warm outside when I will be comfortable in summertime because I left you with the winter.

September Morning

Written By: Faster Than Sound

On this chill September morning,
the rolling fog, a bridal veil,
falls to the coastline
as it's married to the sea.

Inseparable just like we used to be.

Standing on the balcony
listening to the winds haunted melodies that float 10,000 miles across the sea.

I hope you're thinking of me.

Because I will be thinking of you no matter how many miles lie between.
And you'll be sitting on my shoulder
so we'll never walk alone.
We'll never walk alone.

Retracing footsteps down a winding, covered path.
I close my eyes and just let memory
guide me through the dark.

Led on by your spark.

Walking the beach toward the place we first met.
The clouds divide to show the moon lying on a bed of crystal sea.

I hope you're thinking of me.

Because I will be thinking of you no matter how many miles lie between.
And you'll be sitting on my shoulder
so we'll never walk alone.
We'll never walk alone.

Survivor Song

Written By: Faster Than Sound

I scratched my itches,
tearing the skin right open wide.
Then I cut my stitches
to open myself up and take a look inside.
I picked the leeches
from every section of my mind
and erased your features
from every memory that I could find.

This is not a declaration of any kind of war,
nor a white flag of surrender.
This is not a eulogy to times that passed before,
or a new prayer to remember.
This is the survivor song.

I'll climb a mountain
so I have somewhere left to fall,
and lay before the ravens
so they can take my eyes when I've seen it all.
I'll lay my head down
when I have nowhere left to go,
and I'll stop thinking when I know everything that there is to know.

This is not a declaration of any kind of war,
nor a white flag of surrender.
This is not a eulogy to times that passed before,
or a new prayer to remember.
This is the survivor song.

I'll pull my tongue out
when I have nothing left to say.
But I'll scream my lungs out
until I close my eyes on my dying day.

This is not a declaration of any kind of war,
nor a white flag of surrender.
This is not a eulogy to times that passed before,
or a new prayer to remember.
This is the survivor song.
