Bio
Jeff Lotz started out as singer/songwriter when he moved to New York City in 2010. After performing as a solo artist for two years he met Brett Pontecorvo, a Musical Director, and accomplished jazz pianist. He became a permanent fixture in Jeff’s music and their sound expanded to a two piece band. Soon after, the duo met and began performing with vocalist and actress Justine Davis.
A desire arose in the trio to create music that reflected their identity as a group and from that Fate of Fools was born; moving away from the singer/songwriter with a band feel, and towards a new sound and identity as a unit. The trio began experimenting with the possibilities of computers, synths, and performance software as a way to make a fuller sound. This is how they developed their unique "rocktronic" sound.
In its current form, Fate of Fools is a pop rock trio from New York. They are influenced by, Andrew Bird, Gungor, Judy Garland, Rocky Votolato, Jason Robert Brown, Anathallo, Ben Folds, The Civil wars, Bill Evans, Ingrid Michaelson, but don’t necessarily sound like any one of them. The released their debut EP at the beginning of March 2016 and are currently playing shows around the regional NYC area.
