"FATTOOTH Self Titled Debut Album to Unleash In the US"

Make No Bones about it, Fattooth is Canada’s premiere Kick in the face Metal/Punk crossover act. Their self-titled debut US release will hit March 24th on Reversed Records.

With a killer stage show and biting sound, Fattooth has been tearing a new hole in the Canadian underground scene. Eons beyond all the tired Death metal and Grindcore acts boring the hell out of every one to the point of suicide;… With no patience for the depressed and prozakked,…. Fattooth brings on a mix of Punk, Cock Rock and Metal roots that make the sluts rip their shirts off and the dudes thrash their mullets.

You may be asking yourself how did this menacing quartet come to be? The better question is how are they allowed to corrupt the youth without consequence? We will save that for an upcoming seminar on obscenity and censorship. Originally, it was three guys solid (Mihran Boudakian, Hucifer and George Xipoleas), beating out sound and going deaf with a multitude of half ass drummers in Montreal, Canada. Their work was enough to get producer and Juno award winning engineer Rob Shallcross( Strapping Young Lad, Gwar, Man Made Mountains, Mr. Plow etc.) interested in the project, after having worked with the talents of Hucifer back in grungy old Winnipeg in the late 90‘s. The guys in Montreal sent Shallcross the material they had recorded and Hucifer started tracking the vocals in Vancouver, between planting Trees on the West Coast of Canada, Gene Hoglan (Death, Dethlok, Strapping Young Lad, Zimmer’s hole) flew in, pounded out the drum tracks and ate a bunch of Sushi. The remaining two flew in to complete the job that had been started in Magma Studios in January 08, hence the self titled debut album.

The three discovered a suitable replacement for Gene in Costa Dimitroulis and are currently banging out shows to sweaty, drunk, awestruck audiences. This album will be released in the U.S in conjunction with over 40 dates in 23 states.

"GENE HOGLAN Featured On FATTOOTH Debut"

Legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TESTAMENT, DEATH, DARK ANGEL) recorded all the drums tracks for the self-titled debut album from the Canadian metal/punk crossover band FATTOOTH, due on March 24 via Reversed Records.

Formed by Mihran Boudakian, Hucifer and George Xipoleas, FATTOOTH's work was enough to get producer and Juno Award-winning engineer Rob Shallcross (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, GWAR, MAN MADE MOUNTAINS, MR. PLOW) interested in the project. The guys in Montreal sent Shallcross the material they had recorded and Hucifer started tracking the vocals in Vancouver. Hoglan then flew in and pounded out the drum tracks. After that, the remaining two completed the job that had been started in Magma Studios in January 2008.

Bringing back the good times
FatTooth heralds back to old school rock and roll with their amped up live set

By Holly Fraughton

Who: FatTooth

Where: Garfinkel's

When: Friday, Aug. 7

Don't expect the guys from FatTooth to be lining up to buy the latest album from Fall Out Boy. With Hucifer on vocals, PowPow on guitar, Buddha on bass, and Cockstar on drums, these guys are trying to get back to the basics when it comes to rock and roll.

Instead of our modern-day, watered down emo-rock, Hucifer and the rest of the FatTooth crew are looking back to the likes of Van Halen for inspiration, especially when it comes to their live performances.

"I don't like all this depressing 'I'm on Prozac' crap - it's horrible!" Hucifer said.

The group has recently taken their show on the road, kick-starting their Natural Disaster tour, which sees them playing a series of shows throughout the Western Canada before finally making it back east, towards their home base in Quebec. As of last Friday, the group was in Winnipeg, playing a couple of gigs in Hucifer's hometown.

"We kicked it off with Toronto's North by Northeast festival and we had a really good response there. It was a monster show!" Hucifer recalled with a chuckle. "...The first band that was before us, they got booed off the stage."

Clearly the preceding group wasn't a tough act to follow and the crowd was more than ready for a good time by the time FatTooth took the stage.

"People weren't too happy with them, and we got up and they were ready to rock and roll, and we really delivered. Man, people were hanging off the ceiling - it was a great show!"

These guys also use one of the oldest (and most effective) tricks in the musicians' book, pulling out all the stops with costuming and makeup - think along the lines of a toned-down KISS.

But make no mistake, FatTooth aren't all style and no substance. While fans might be lured in to check out the show by their over-the-top costumes and face paint, they promise to deliver the musical goods, as well.

"When we went to Thunder Bay we got all geared up, we walked in and there's people outside smoking, right, and they all start cheering us on right away, because that's the kind of vibe we put out there, so they just pick up on it right away, and they're ready for a good rock and roll show."

Since the group came together about three years ago, these musicians have managed to develop their own metal, punk, thrash hybrid, heralding back to the days of real rock. They're no strangers to the music scene, either, each having played in several bands before coming together on the FatTooth front. Each are also into genres and aspects of the industry - Cockstar is all about the heavy stuff and PowPow is into guitarists like Frank Zappa and Steve Vai, while Hucifer draws influence from the likes of Tom Waits and, of course, wrestlers like Macho Man.

In March, FatTooth released their first self-titled EP, bringing in some friends to complete the project: Rob Shallcross of Strapping Young Lad, Gwar, Mr. Plow and The Heathen of Zimmer's Hole.

Their name, FatTooth, seems like a bit of a head-scratcher at first, but as it turns out, the group's namesake is none other than Hucifer's own girlfriend. How romantic!

"It all clicked - it's a quirky name, kinda like The Band, and it's outside of the box, and we do a lot of stuff out of the box," Hucifer said. "We're not a death metal act or a grind core act, we like to see people having fun and we're bringing the fun back in the traditional sense."

These guys clearly aren't without a sense of humour. Their lyrics are infused with witty one-liners, while combining elements of hardcore and metallic metal into their melodies.

"When I do a song, it is a character and I like to deliver that and get into that persona," Hucifer explained. "It makes it fun, right? We have a really good time. Some people don't understand it, because they think music is a serious thing, but for me, music is whatever you want it to be."

The Whistler crowd can look forward to a solid evening of rock and roll, presented by some guys who are out to have a good time.

"Exclaim! - Fattooth Review"

Fattooth
Fattooth
By Keith Carman

With their randy sense of humour and witty one-liners, Fattooth boast an amusing slice of tongue-in-cheek punk rock’n’roll heavily influenced by the likes of hardcore, metal and even elements of cock rock. The flow of tracks such as “High Time At Low Tide,” “Red Neck Metal Head” and “Big Daddy” are always engaging, upbeat and somewhat odd. There’s a distinct lack of a unifying element to the songs on this eponymous effort yet it doesn’t hamper the proceedings in the slightest. Instead, these nine tracks become almost a deli platter of variety where one can pick and choose whatever entices them at that moment. However, Fattooth should be aware of how dangerously close they’re coming to the sensation most walk away from said deli tray with: pleasure at sampling an array of experiences but a lack of being satiated by anything substantial. Finally, something completely unique in the world of Heavy Rock Music. I love when you hear an entire album and have no idea how to categorize what you’ve just listened to and I had that very feeling when listening to FATTOOTH’s, Self-Titled effort. Was I listening to a raw, quirky Punk band with Metal tendencies like we knew with THE SEX PISTOLS? Or, was I listening to a Metal band with riffs and vocals that commonly ride the edge between the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and Sweden’s BACKYARD BABIES? It’s hard to say, and even harder when some of the insane drumming is being provided by none other than STRAPPING YOUNG LAD / TESTAMENT / DEATH drummer, Gene Hoglan. It’s stripped of all bullshit bells-n-whistles in the production department, which leans it heavily towards the Punk genre, but then you get a tune like “Red Neck Metalhead”, which teeters so closely to PRIMUS on a heavier high due to Hoglan’s drumming and you’re all confused again. These Canadian rachet-heads sure know how to create a sense of fun with riot-inciting gang chant backups and glass-breaking screaming vocals. Although my favorite track of the lot is the sick-ass “Gunned By Noon”, I didn’t find myself pointing to a single track as weak or unlikable.

An innovative album that packs more insanity into a shorter time period than a sloppy serial killer who manages to commit one really disgusting murder and then gets the death penalty minutes later after getting caught smoking a cigarette with one foot propped on the body! To check out this very clever and talented band of adrenaline junkies, head over to FATTOOTH and then when the curiosity is just eating a hole in your brain like an acid bath, click on REVERSED RECORDS WEBSITE to purchase the mayhem for yourself! Very Highly Recommended!!!

They have theatrics that enhance and really compliment the brutality of their set, and the alcohol fueled crowd wasted no time in cheering for an encore, which the band had no trouble delivering. "Confront Mag 8/10 Album Review - Fattooth"

Fattooth: Limited Edition Debut Album

Now, if you want to know what Punk is supposed to sound like, pick this one up. Bridging the divide between Metal and Punk, Fattooth are a group of crazy musicians with no small love of irony, stage production, screaming and technically complex, hard-driven Punk.

The team of vocalist Hucifer, Mihran Boudakian and George Xipoleas formed up and produced a highly explosive, angry, powerful and really LOUD punk act with brilliant lyrics that alternately drip with seething rage, cruel sarcasm and shockingly refreshing (or refreshingly shocking) lyrical imagery. Though Fattooth like to call themselves the AC/DC of Pun, owing to Hucifer’s screeching falsetto, their intensity and investment in the Blues roots of all things in the Rock and Roll tree reminds me more of Henry Rollins, and even more of old-school Punk Rockers like Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies or Fear. These guys are the real deal, and the 9 tracks on ‘Limited Edition Debut Album’ are too few for my ears.

Best on the album are the tracks “High Time At Low Tide”, “The More Machine” and “Red Neck Metal Head”. The only weakness here is “Bacteria”, which seems more like a high school Punk band’s lunchroom satire. Other than that, the rest of the album is fully-loaded and evocative of a much more raw and rancid era in Punk history.

"CD Review: Fattooth – s/t | The Rock and Roll Report"

July 22, 2009 by Barbara Pavone

fattoothcdcoverWith their self-titled debut Fattooth showcase the incredible feat that they’ve accomplished – they’ve found themselves a unique, refreshing niche somewhere between the realms of metal, punk and rock that is almost unidentifiable. This ability to fuse styles makes the album unpredictable (I swear I heard a saxophone on ‘High Time At Low Tide’) and keeps you gripped and listening ‘till the end. The guitar is played by a master, the drums are banged like there’s no tomorrow, the rhythms are memorable and the lyrics scream ‘originality!’ When is the last time you heard a man (in makeup that gives KISS a run for their money) giving Santa shit? – “Hey Santa Claus put me on your list, I’ve been a good boy but now I’m pissed” [Rock Around The World]. Never? That’s because nobody has ever had the genius idea, until now. Leave it to Fattooth to challenge the conventions of metal and punk and to deliver a sound that is instantly recognizable and completely their own. With a debut like this, there’s nowhere to go but up.

July 23, 2009
Lock up your daughters...
Montreal party-rock outfit Fattooth is coming to town - and it's bringing its monster debut album
Jared Story

Lock up your daughters..."We're here to see the sweaty titties."

Fattooth frontman Hucifer remembers when rock 'n' roll was all about the girls, girls and, well, girls.

"We're the new Van Halen, buddy," says Hucifer, who's joined in Fattooth by guitarist George (Powpow) Xipoleas, bassist Mihran (Bouddha) Boudakian and drummer Costa (Cockstar" Dimitroulis. "We're taking it back to when people knew how to play instruments properly and constructed songs that have a groove. We're not depressed. I'm not on Prozac. We're here to have a good time. We're trying to bring that back to rock 'n' roll, not this big sausage party you see nowadays. I'm not interested in that. I want to see the ladies. It's all about the girls."

Well, lock up your daughters (and your wives, your backdoor - you know the song), because these Montreal party rockers are coming to town. The band is touring across Canada in support of its debut self-titled album, which was released via local label Reversed Records. A 'Peg expat, Hucifer worked with Rob Shallcross, the imprint's founder, in his Winnipeg days. Not only did Shallcross produce and release the record, but he also managed to get legendary metal drummer Gene Hoglan (Death, Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Dark Angel, Dethklok) on board.

"Rob sent him stuff to see if he was interested and he liked Big Daddy, Rock Around the World, The More Machine, tracks like that," Hucifer says. "We didn't have a drummer at the time. We have kind of a Spinal Tap story of drummers blowing up and leaving.

"We then had a lot of trouble finding somebody that could keep that standard (set by Hoglan). Winnipeg is a different scene. You could hire and fire a drummer in the same day. There are a lot of great drummers in Winnipeg but it's not like that in Montreal. They all go to McGill and they think they should be paid to show up and jam, they don't want to pay their dues."

Everything's alright behind the kit now with Dimitroulis in the mix.

"Cockstar really stepped up to the plate,"s Hucifer says. "He's a young guy, he's 22, and the girls love him. He's got a great look and he really hammers it out. We've worked him like a dog and now he's bringing it every night."

With a strong skinsman and band in tow, Hucifer is excited to return to the 'Peg to raise a little hell.

"I think its going to be a monster show. I expect to see a lot of old buddies and friends," Hucifer says. "The Zoo was a second home to me. You can ask Chuck and Dave (the brothers Green at the Osborne Village Inn), I was around there more often then they would have liked. I got kicked out of there many, many times."

Fattooth on The Grind on PunkRadioCast.com - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEFqBJGl1wA

Canada’s number one goddamn talent, Fattooth have been tearing up North American stages and airwaves for the last three years. In their infancy, Fattooth (hailing out of Montreal, Canada) embarked on an impressive 9 song EP with the aid of Juno Award winning producer Rob Shallcross (Strapping Young Lad, Gwar, Mr. Plow, Fear Factory, etc). The self titled album features guest spots by Gene Hoglan, (Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Fear Factory, Dethklok, etc.) The Heathen of Zimmer's Hole and Mr. Plow.

The album is honored by critics as a true original gem in a whole heap of imitators and Prozac induced depressives. If you are looking for a sausage party with your death metal buddies and you want to stay angry not knowing why... don’t knock on The Tooth’s door cause the live show screams; LETS SEE SOME FUCKIN SWEATY TITS!
