"Leamington Teen Wins Regional OpenMic Finals Place"

YOUNG Leamington singer Faye Horne is hoping to sail through regional heats of a prestigious award next month.

The 17-year-old from Chamberlain Close, in Cubbington, has already beat off competition from 10,000 hopefuls to win a place in the regional OpenMic 2009 finals at the Assembly in Leamington.

She hopes to impress the judges on Saturday October 3 and get closer to a chance to win a professional recording contract.

The teenager, who is studying towards a National Diploma in Musical Theatre at Stratford College, has been singing since she was 13 and performs regular gigs across Coventry and Warwickshire.

The OpenMic contest is a national talent competition which searches for the UK’s best singers and songwriters of all genres, performing either covers or original material.

Tickets for the regional heats are £7.50 and can be purchased from Faye on 07877748332.

At the age of only 13, Faye Horne entered Leamington Town Hall on a cold January morning in 2005. She made her Concert Stage debut 4 months later in front of an audience of 800 and reached the final. Spotted by Big Help Management, Faye joined their young artist development scheme, performing in many charity and community events which has progressed into her singing at Weddings, Parties, Social Clubs, Pubs and Night Clubs. Faye can make a large theatre seem an intimate space through her rich soulful voice and infectious personality.
