"Fear Me December"

popVLTR: You've been making moves in Argentina, how'd you get into music?

Fear Me December: Each one of us has been into music since our childhood, we started when we were around 14 years old with different projects, but it wasn't until 2009 when we met for the first time in our previous band. In late 2011 that band came to an end and we decided to go on, so we changed the name to Fear Me December in mid 2012. Music has always been around us, it just took a little while to brought us together.

popVLTR: Congrats on releasing 'Who Cares?', who are some of your influences?

FMD: Thanks! Well, we have different influences (even though we agree in some of them). For example, Victoria (vocals & bass) loves music form the 80's like Queen, Pink Floyd and George Michael; Valentin (guitar & back vocals) loves the new music like Alter Bridge, Sick Puppies, 30 Seconds to Mars; and Emiliano (drums) loves punk like Blink 182, Green Day, A Day To Remember.

popVLTR: What are some of your proudest moments in music?

FMD: Well there isn't just one moment, we think that the whole 2013 was a year to be proud of. We achieved more than we actually expected: since the release of "Who Cares?" on February we played 30 shows in many cities and many states (even in another country!), we were featured in many blogs and magazines in Argentina and the USA, we signed a publishing contract with Tate Music Group for our record in the USA so we believe the whole year was something to be complete proud of, it was a great first year.

popVLTR: What cool stuff is on the horizon for Fear Me December?

FMD: The first thing on Fear Me December's horizon is the recording of our first full length record. We are planning a 12 or 13 songs album, so we are finishing some new songs and pretty soon we will start the pre-production; and of course there's the releasing of "Who Cares?" on the USA, we are very anxious about that! - PopVulture Magazine

"Fear Me December"

So why don’t you introduce yourself and tell us more about this band?
We are Valentin (Guitar, back vocals), Emiliano (Drums), and Victoria (Vocals, bass), we are Fear Me December, a rock band from Argentina.

We started the band early in 2012 -we were in another band and the singer left, so we decided begin a new project, with huge changes.

Part of those changes was that we wanted to make different melodies, write lyrics, have a different style and sound.

What’s the story behind the band’s name?
The name comes from a break in the band we had before. The singer left during December, so we took that break and decided to make a “Before and after” right there, changing our music and everything else. On the other hand, we are working in a project that could mean another “before and after” in the band. It’s like December always has something planned for us.

What are your music influence?
Our music influence is mostly international bands. The three of us, we have different styles, i.e. Valentin loves bands like “Alter Bridge”, “Sick Puppies”, “30 Seconds to Mars”; Emiliano likes punk like “Blink 182″, “Yellowcard”, “Ataris”; and Victoria shares most of Valentin’s taste in music, but she also likes classic rock like “Queen” and new bands like “Daughtry” and “Lacuna Coil”.

Talk to us about this compilation to be featured in MTV and VH1?
This compilation was incredible news that we got not too long ago. It all started with “W.O.A. International”, we got selected for a radio broadcasting campaign, and then they offered us to be part of this compilation they were putting together, featured by MTV and HV1.

This compilation won’t be for sale, it will be distributed in different bars and radios, in different cities and countries, so we are pretty excited about it.
Our song Defiled has been chosen for de No.1′s Vol.2 Compilation. Releasing 31st Oct.
The album is being released during the WOA International Music Festival with major advertising on Vh1 as Viacom (Vh1 & MTV) are supporting the album as licensing partners.

¿Proyectos a futuro?

Por ahora, seguimos haciendo difusión a nuestro video actual: Goodbye To You. - Revista Cultural Urbana

"Fear Me December"

It's a online PDF so I can't copy+paste the interview, but you can check it at this link: http://www.santafealdia.com/revista_santafe_julio_01/FLASH/index.html at page #22. - Santa Fe Al Dia

"Interview with Fear Me December"

1) What inspired you guys to start a band?
I think it was our passion for music and our desire to make a living out of it. We’ve been around music sinsce we were little kids and after a couple of experiences with bands (some good, some bad) we we’re really fortuned to find each other.

2) Are your parents supportive of you?
Of course they are! In their own ways and manner, but they are. I think it’s hard to understand a son’s passion for music, but eventually they ended up understanding!

3) How do you overcome people who put you down or try to bring your hopes down just because you want to be in a band?

We usually tell them to f* off, there’s no point in paying attention to people that just want to bring you down. After all, we’ll do whatever we feel we gotta do.

4) How would you describe your music to people who never heard of your band?

It’s all about emotions and real experiences. Nothing fony here, no “pre-made” songs or lyrics. We always write about what we’ve been through. That, combined with hi-gain guitars, powerfull drumms and voices, it’s how I would describe it. Sounds a lot like the Alternative Rock from the 2000 and late 90′s.

5) What do say to bands who are arrogant?
Same as we do with those who try to bring us down, we ignore them. They usually think that they’re so good and good things will happen to them just because they’re good, and then you see them dissapear into oblivion.

6) What is it like to be you for a day?
If you get to be me while we’re on the road going somewhere to play a gig it’s all about joking around, eating as much as you can, and having a LOT of fun. Not only traveling but also meeting new people and places. We use to play a lot more outside our hometown so we get to know a lot of new faces, it’s really fun, we come back home with a lot of new friends and nice experiences, I’m very greatfull for that. But, if we’re not on the road, then I’m working really hard to get new gigs, new songs, everything. I’d say it’s a perfect mix between fun and responsibilities.

7) If you were to change into a dinosaur, what kind of dinosaur would you like to be?
This is probably one of the best questions ever! I’d be a Velociraptor, not doubt about it. Always liked those little fellas. - Band Focus

"Nace Fear Me December"

"Fear Me December is our Tuesdays Travel Pick!"

Straight from Santa Fe, Argentina is an incredible alternative rock back that I have been listening a lot too lately. Allow me to introduce you to Fear Me December. This band formed only a little over a year ago but they definitely have a history with music. The members Emiliano, Victoria and Valentin are former members of Dark Secret. Victoria plays bass and also delivers captivating vocals. Valentin gives us the great guitar and backing vocals and Emiliano brings it all together with his drumming.

They have recently released their EP out “Who Cares?” and I have been really enjoying their single off it, “Goodbye to You“.

We are going to be bringing you an interview with this band soon but for now, make sure to visit their social media sites.

The three of us, we have different styles, i.e. Valentin loves bands like “Alter Bridge”, “Sick Puppies”, “30 Seconds to Mars”; Emiliano likes punk like “Blink 182?, “Yellowcard”, “Ataris”; and Victoria shares most of Valentin’s taste in music, but she also likes classic rock like “Queen” and new bands like “Daughtry” and “Lacuna Coil”.

Our song Defiled has been chosen for de No.1's Vol.2 Compilation. Releasing 31st Oct.
The album is being released during the WOA International Music Festival with major advertising on Vh1 as Viacom (Vh1 & MTV) are supporting the album as licensing partners. Over 10,000 copies will be distributed worldwide to radio, media and clubs at holiday destinations including Hard Rock Cafe’s and other major clubs across Dubai, London, Goa, Mumbai, New Delhi, Toronto and New York.
we are very excited and happy for be part of this new album compilation! Ty so much W.O.A Records & Studios.

How you guys see the music scene over there in Argentina?
It’s complicated, because it’s not what it used to be.

On one hand, there’re a lot of new and incredible bands, with a great sound. There’s a lot to listen to, of every style. Sadly, people only listen to stablished bands with huge carreers on their backs, so the other ones don’t get that much attention from the audience. So that’s why we think that, whenever a new band makes it to the top, it’s something wonderful.
On the other hand, everything here is very expensive, so it’s hard to get good instruments, or a good recording studio. So everything a band does, must be done with a huge effort. Besides, people are used to free shows, so it’s hard to charge for the tickets.

We believe that, if certain things work out, Argentina would have an enormous musical scene, but first we have to make people aware that being a musician it’s also a job.

Goodbye to You. Can you tell us more about this track?
We wrote Goodbye To You in a tense momment we were going through. Our former singer left the band in a very bad way, so we had some hard days. That’s why, when we recorded the EP, we wanted to express what we were going through at that time, and Goodbye To You is the song that reflects that in the best way.

How was the film experience like and what’s the concept behind the video?
It was an incredible experience; we enjoyed every momment and learned a lot. The idea was to show ourselves just like we are, but we dind’t want to have the classic band-playing-video, so we chose to have some close caption frames, with some cool lights.

The only “bad” thing was that we listened to the song so many times that, in the next rehearsal, we didn’t wanted to play it (laughs).

Who cares? How was the recording and writing process like?
The songs came to life in our rehearsal room; we use to jam, and eventually we make something that we like how it sounds like, so we stick to that until it’s a complete song. The music always comes first, and then we make the lyrics at the end.
Recording is one of the things we enjoy the most. This time we took our time so everything could sound just like we wanted.

Victoria had a particular experience, since it was her first time recording vocals. So she made a huge effort, and ended up learning a lot.

How did you come up with the title? Where did you get the inspiration for the lyrics from?
As usual, our lyrics support the title of the EP.

We decided to name it “Who Cares?” because there were a lot of people talking about the brea - Vents Magazine

¿Proyectos a futuro?

Por ahora, seguimos haciendo difusión a nuestro video actual: Goodbye To You.

Sounds a lot like the Alternative Rock from the 2000 and late 90's.

- Diario El Litoral
