The local natives Fear of Sound recently released there highly proconceived follow up to (Di-Fi') entitled Focus. Since the release of (Di-Fi') Fear of Sound have opened for a few of the top acts around the world including Hatebreed and 7 Angels 7 Plagues. Focus features another 5 tracks that are sure to put a smile on your face.

Focus kicks in witht he near perfect track entitled "Skeletons". The track still maintains there old which is good for older fans but may disappoint newer listeners when they listen to the other tracks on the record. The second track on the album is called "Negative". The track happens to be my favorite on the record because its a lot differant from there old material. "Negative" with holds a few hardcore elements but it also does with hold some of there older sounds.

Overall Focus is a very good cd, Fear of Sound maintained to keep there old sound and add other elements and still keep the album good. Thats something most bands cannot do these days. Although the record is very good I don't think it deserves a 10 because I think Fear of Sound can do a lot more than what they did on this record. I would like to hear some more Fear of Sound but I would love to hear them with a little more hardcore elements.

9.5/10

Fear of Sound (S/Tl) reviewed By:Patrick

Fear of Sound combine foundations of modern rock and emotion to produce there sound. Fear of Sound somewhat sounds like a mean combination of Linkin Park, Tool, Deftones, and Flaw, the music features some badass samples and turntables which kind of feeds you to a rap-metal band but Fear of Sound isn’t like most metal bands out today. The track that caught my eye the most is "Decay". I enjoy "Decay" allot because of the turntables and samples. Vocally they are very strong and combine great melodies and solid lyrics into the music and guitar wise Fear of Sound puts together nice steady riffs. Fear of Sound is one of the few unsigned bands that deserve to be signed. Keep up the good work and I am sure I will see you around Wisconsin sometime.

Bio

The bands influences range from Def Leppard, to Nirvana to Korn. We always deliver the best stage performance possible, because lets face it no one wants to watch 4 guys standing still. We always take care of our fans. The music we write is music we love to play, that is the bottom line, we dont try and achieve a certian sound or sound like anyone else, we are just 4 guys who like to play music and if people want to listen so be it.
