Bio

Though they have only played as an original band for a little over two years, Feather And Stone, a three-piece-rock group from the St. Louis area, has its roots in another band from the early nineties. The Drummer and Bass Guitarist, Charles and Alex Baldwin, are in fact brothers that grew up playing in a band with their Father, John Baldwin. John had been in many local rock bands throughout the early 70's and 80's, including Rogue, Broken Arrow, and Baccus. Over the years, He introduced young Charles and Alex to popular blues music of the past two decades and eventually formed rock n' roll band with them while they learned to play their favorite tunes. Paul Scimone, The Guitarist and Lead Vocalist of the group, is actually their cousin, who grew up learning music on his own accord and seeing his cousins play with their father at their home. Paul was inspired to be a musician by his Uncle John and Step Father, Rodney Kalina. Rodney was in fact the Vocalist in the Baldwin Family Band, known as "One Love." Young Paul grew up listening to his close family members and occasionally hearing them play out at local venues. He had a few small groups of his own in his younger years in which he played bass guitar, but eventually gave up on live performance until his later teens. Upon learning acoustic guitar in his teenage years, he began write his own songs and tunes. He played in a local St. Louis Band, Charley Chann (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeScMckArdU), before moving to Nashville TN. to pursue acts such as "The Red ThRed." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PWFUCBuvhE) Upon a trip home to St.Louis, he finally played guitar with his Uncle and Cousins for virtually the first time. A bond of musical interest was immediately formed that only family ties can inspire. Shortly thereafter, He moved back to St. Louis and a band was formed. This band, "Human Capitol," which still included John Baldwin and Rodney Kalina, mainly played cover tunes at local bars and pubs. It was at this time, in 2009, that Feather And Stone first started to write original tunes and perform together. It should be noted that Feather And Stone Writes their tunes collaboratively, with all three members contributing to every facet of the songs in different ways. In a time when music has become overproduced, trite, and pop-culture driven, we have taken it upon ourselves to stay true to the songwriting techniques of our heroes. Influences include: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Love, The Kinks, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and The Experience, Cream, The Sex Pistols, The White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Oasis, The Allman Brothers, Albert King, Stevie Wonder, The Black Keys, The Meters, The James Gang, Rush, The Vines, The Doors, Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Death From Above 1979, King Khan and The Shrines, Prince, Neil Young, The Police, Radiohead, Spacehog, Supergrass, Michael Jackson, Modest Mouse and many many moreā€¦
