Austin, TX - Federal! State! Local! is an Austin-based band that was formed in 2008. They've been called a "young, folk-pop group" and a "great Austin band you don't want to miss."
This group has been playing around Austin at such venues as The Mohawk, Thunderbird Coffee and Pie Guys Pizza. They recorded an EP in Kyle, Texas called "I'll Put it on When I'm Dead." It will be available for purhase soon.

This afternoon couldn't have been any better for I was lucky enough to steal a few minutes with a great local band, Federal! State! Local!. Five of the eight members were able to come the studio and record a special acoustic set just for LifeJive Radio. Their folk-rock (dare I narrow it down to one genre) sound is anything but cliche with each member complimenting the next instrumentally and vocally. Federal! State! Federal! State! Local! is an Indie-Americana band from Austin, Texas officially formed in November of 2008 when drummer, Phil Aulie, and violinist, Brenna Pritchard, joined the songwriting trio of Gianni Sarmiento, Nathan Fleckenstein, and Mathew Wojcik. Since then numerous lineup changes have occurred, and the band has finally settled in at a whopping eight members.
Gianni Sarmiento: Guitar, lyrics, vocals, keys, and some bass on recordings.
Mat Wojcik: Guitar, lyrics, vocals, ukulele, keys, percussion, harmonica, saxophone, and drums
Nathan Fleckenstein: Guitar, vocals, lyrics, keys, and some bass on recordings
Devan Carpenter: banjo, cello, keys, lyrics, vocals and trumpet
Phil Aulie: Drums, bells, lyrics, keys, ukulele, vocals, and some bass on recordings.
James Lavery: Bass, percussion, keys and just plain being cool.
Matthew Squires: Keys, percussion, lyrics, harmonica, vocals
Alexa Skillicorn: Violin, percussion, vocals
Federal! State! Local! has been playing shows around Austin at such venues as The Mohawk, Thunderbird Coffee, and Pie Guys Pizza. They recorded an EP at Indie Fort Studios in Kyle, Texas with the help of friends Matthew Squires, Philip Woodbury, Jack Still, Bradley Taliaferro, and engineer Cory Dennis of The El Guapos and The Baltic Seahorses. The EP, titled "I'll Put It On When I'm Dead", will be available to purchase soon.
