"Getting’ the Feelin’ with The Feelin Band"

A lot of rock bands generate a good time and leave audiences with a pleasant buzz like the beer they’ve been consuming all night. But The Feelin Band serves up more, stimulating the brain and the heart.

It is Mrozinski’s vision, along with his versatile voice and prolific songwriting talents, that has shaped the band.

Their debut release, The Sacred Play of Life is a 17-track journey into love, life, and spirit. Woven through its songs are blues, jazz, rock, country, pop, reggae, and theatrical and klesmer stylings, as well as a sprinkling of hip-hop and R&B. The band is able to handle all of these genres easily.

But more difficult for any band would be the diverse vocal styles. Mrozinski is able to deliver those with ease and grace. There are the Delta sounds of Leon Russell and Aaron Neville in his voice. Sometimes, he has flavors of Tom Jones and Van Morrison. Sometimes, his voice has an echo of John Legend and Tom Waits. - High Plains Reader - Janie Franz

"The Feelin Band breaks free"

The Feelin Band is perhaps best known around these parts as Teague Alexy's backing band on the excellent "The New Folklore," but that's about to change. Later this month, the group will release its long-awaited debut album, "The Sacred Play of Life."

Led by soulful singer/keyboardist Nicholas "The Feelin" Mrozinski, who could easily share the stage with seasoned pro Cliff Eberhardt, "Sacred" has all the elements of a timeless record: It's heartfelt, organic and, most impressive, it's not afraid to show its contributors' battle scars.

That's right; like Eberhardt's "The High Above and the Down Below," there's definitely something a little "down on its luck" about this album. But it's more than just a bluesy voice that does the trick: It seems the last couple of years have been dark ones for Mrozinski.

After a badly broken heart, the album press release goes, he suffered numerous panic attacks and turned to drinking to numb the pain.

"Sacred," then, is a showcase of battling one's inner demons and coming out triumphant — and it shows.

For example, when Mrozinski's plaintive piano playing weaves its way through songs like "You Are That Now" or "Bob Dylan Loves Duluth," you listen — and maybe recall the high points* of Jackson Browne's 1977 landmark album "Running on Empty," if you felt so inclined.

This music draws you in, and keeps you fixated from the first note. It's like falling in love with music all over again.

*And there were some, you jaded naysayers….

The Feelin Band will play a CD release show for "The Sacred Play of Life" at 8 p.m. April 25 at Pizza Luce. Two Many Banjos and the Brass Kings are also on the bill (and releasing albums that night). Cost is $5. - Matthew R. Perrine - Budgeteer News

"Mrozinski starts feelin' better"

The Feelin’ Band’s debut release is chock full of 17 tracks of hope and optimism led by Mrozinski’s passionate vocals and piano.

These are songs of true feelings. It’s one thing to write songs and sing about being down and out and rising above, but when you’ve actually been down and out and have been through the struggle, it shows in song.

This isn’t soul music by classification alone; it’s soul music because that’s where it comes from. - Adam Hammer - St. Cloud Times

Bringing hope, optimism and light into a sometimes dark and detached world is exactly what The Feelin Band does on "The Sacred Play of Life". Driven by Mrozinski’s commanding vocals and flowing piano, the four-piece soul-rockers sound like a combination of Van Morrison, Tom Waits, John Lennon, John Legend, Blind Melon, and Dr. John. The common theme here is Soul, Traditional R&B, Blues, Folk, Rock and Jazz but the album also includes tracks in Reggae, Spanish flavor and even a cinematic, Disney-like tune, “Villain". The Album plays out like a movie; it is intended to take the listener on a journey. It is a true “Album” you want to take the time to sit down and listen to from beginning to end – a rarity in today’s Top 40 music climate. It is art and creation in its purest form. Combining that purity with such powerful singing and playing truly sets this album and band apart.

The album will be available from the band’s website, www.feelinband.com, through CD Baby, iTunes and other national distributors. The CD packaging features “green” design, using recycled materials and FSC certified board. The band feels strongly about leaving a light footprint and giving back. The band also hopes to reach out and connect with other like-minded organizations and is openly seeking volunteer opportunities. Feel free to contact us at wtwmusic@gmail.com.
