Bio

Born and brought up in Cleveland, Ohio is a very talented 18 year old singer/songwriter, Felishia.

Felishia’s exotic appearance blended with her distinct, strong voice is easy to identify and yet hard to find. Felishia’s passion for music began at the early age of 4, where she started with formal piano training. By the age of 9, Felishia started becoming serious about singing, and by the age of 14, her songwriting was beginning to develop. At the same time, she was taking dance, a talent that complements her musical skills. While consistently ranking in the top percentile of her school in academics, and being captain of her speech and debate team throughout her high school years, she continued her pursuit of music, and hip hop dance.

During her senior year of high school, she was introduced to producer Michael Seifert, a gold and platinum award winning music producer. His associations include Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Tori Amos, Francis Ford Coppola, and MTV to name a few. He watched clips of Felishia performing on stage, and despite his busy schedule, Michael, along with Cactus 12 band member Jimmy Weaver, was more than willing to help Felishia in creating her demo.

After 3 months in the studio, Felishia is proud to announce the release of her original four-song EP, which clearly defines her unique talent. “Just Let Go” demonstrates an upbeat melodic pop sound with a rock edge incomparable to other pop stars. On the “Paradise” track, Felishia’s Indian heritage shines through with the interesting blend of classical sitar and edgy pop/rock genre.

Refreshing in style and sound, Felishia continues to thrive musically while refining her unprecedented talent. “I want people to recognize the diverse yet popular sounds of my music. My hope is that the music and lyrics touch people, and they can relate it to their own experiences in life. While I write from personal experience or observations, I would like everyone to find in the music what speaks to them. Each song tells a story, and continues on a journey.”

"My Influences include Madonna, Janet Jackson, Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple, Gwen Stefani, Mariah Carey, Sean Paul, Incubus and Death Cab for Cutie".

"What sets me apart from other artists, is my mysterious sound. My songs are an interesting blend of several genres, including rock, pop, and jazz. In addition, the last song on my demo, "Paradise" has an East Indian instrument in it; the sitar. It gives it a very cultural and ethnic flare. It is very refreshing".

"While my parents got me involved in almost every sport and extra-curricular you can name, I happened to find my path to singing/songwriting and dancing on my own. One day I just tried singing in my room, and couldn't stop. Soon, I found singing, dancing, and performing in general helped me through hard times. The emotions and passion I felt in every day life was shown through these various art forms. No other feeling in the world can compare to my happiness while I perform. I also know that there are no female Indian artists who are prominent in the American entertainment industry. It is a goal of mine to be among the first".
