Hailing from the Lake District, United Kingdom; artist and musician cum sound engineer Fern Oxley (Shengi) explores her place in The Universe via Sound Generation, Sound Resonance, Social Consciousness and Analogue Representation of Digital Worlds.

Fern's music production focuses around an expression for her emotional life. She utilises her knowledge of dynamics and perception of frequency that move the listener both physiologically and consciously.

Her music is designed to be heard over a large rig and although influenced by dance music, it's purpose is far more that of transcendence and experience rather than leaning towards rave culture. Fern's music takes the listener on a journey, both through the landscape of sonic perception and that of emotional and psychological reverence.

Initially studying Fine Art, Fern began to focus on Music Technology which led to her completing a BSc (Hons) Studio Recording and Performance Technology in 2008.
Her specialisms focuses around Sound Synthesis, Music Production/Engineering, Acoustics and Sound Propagation, Post-Production and Sound as a therapy.

Post degree Fern continued to utilise her skills within sonic arts and music production in various areas.
One of her main focus besides creating her own personal compositions has been that of creative workshop development as well as event production. As a workshop leader she has had the opportunity to work alongside a variety of different people including school children, children with learning differences and adults. The workshops have explored sound creation and manipulation, radioshow creation, sonic arts and sound and art as therapies.

Alongside the work in sonics, Fern has also had residencies that have explored sound art, alongside mixed media such as painting, sculpture, textiles and digital art.

During this time of career development Fern has continued to DJ regularly at both small and large scale music events and festivals.

In recent years she has supported the following acts:

Mary Anne Hobbs. Daedelus. Radioactive Man. Micachu. Jamie Vex'd. Neil Landstrumm. Scotch Egg. Cursor Miner. Lawgiverz. Fuck Buttons. Volcano The Bear. Milanese. Errors. Anti Pop Consortium. Plaid.
