"Fes Roc- The Hustle Game"

This is the first single from Fes Roc's EP Audio Visual due for release in early 2010 on Kic Sounds Records. You may remember Fes Roc from "The Science" his feature performance on Elzhi's The Preface album. Now witness his solo effort, "Hustle Game".

"Fes Roc:Still Feelin' It"

From starting the group F. O. D. (Fingers of Death) with Mischief, Red, Phil and Elzhi in his teen years to popping up on albums from Nick Speed, Big A and former F. O. D. member Elzhi, Fes Roc has always been around, but until now he hadn't pursued his own solo career.

“Why did I wait so long? I was dealing with life. I had to deal with a couple of issues, but the music never left me,” he says, catching up with us while posted up in the studio churning out the rest of his Audio Visual EP.

Having been through some ups and downs throughout the years, Fes Roc remains positive about life. “I came a long way, I’ve dealt with the bad as far as this business goes. I’ve had more good than bad though,” he says.

Growing up in Detroit’s Westside, Fes Roc admits to seeing his fair share of the gritty. Rather than succumbing to it, he turned it into art and used it as inspiration for many of his lyrics on his EP. “I tell you little stories from what I’ve seen in my little neck of the woods … little vivid pictures,” he says thoughtfully.

Turning to his family at Kic Sounds records, Fes Roc began penning for his EP and performing at open mic nights and “getting into the feeling of the music again.” The Audio Visual EP is celebrating a release party at the Blind Pig January 16 with performances by Ro Spit, Illite, Nick Speed and Magestik Legend — most of whom have directly contributed to the re-igniting of the flame inside Fes Roc’s musical soul. He's also releasing an album, Customized Hustle, this spring, further proving that his own hustle is as strong as ever.

With all the friends he’s made along the way, Fes Roc has the tools he needs to carve his own niche in Detroit hip-hop and beyond. “Never let anybody tear your dreams down or tell you you’re too old to do something. Just keep moving forward and pressing on because just like this, dreams come true.” | RDW

Bio

Fes Roc’s style could be compared to hustle in the rap game; instead it’s a customized contribution to the listener. Hailing from Plymouth Roc (or Plymouth Road) on Detroit’s Westside, Fes Roc began penning rhymes in the 5th grade. In high school Fes was one of the founding members of the rap group F. O. D. (Fingers of Death) with fellow members Mischief, Red, Phil, and Elzhi. Fes and the rest of the F.O.D. members were also a part of Detroit’s legendary HIP HOP SHOP era, along with artists, Phat Kat, 5 Elements, DJ Houseshoes, DJ Dez, 31 Flavors (Flavas?), Biochemists, D12, and Slum Village.
During that era F. O. D. stormed the college scene with their single called “#2 pencils,” which became the number one requested song on college radio. In the late 90’s F.O.D. disbanded to pursue solo careers. Fes found other avenues and ways to contribute to the Detroit scene by working in urban promotions and marketing. Despite his try at other avenues, Fes never stopped writing rhymes. After some persistence from his peers, Fes recorded a track for Nick Speed's "D-Tour" album entitled “Glisten”. “D-Tour” featured other tracks with local and nation wide emcees. When fellow F.O.D. member Elzhi put together his album “The Preface,” Fes was asked to be featured on the track called “The Science". Fes has also been featured on “Concious Gangsta" an album by fellow Detroit artist Big A. The song “So Humble” along side Miz Korona is a song about remaining humble even though he is on the rise to the top.
With the flame re-kindled for recording Fes co-founded KicSounds Entertainment along with members Illite, D-Roc and Zhao-Ski. Fes Roc will be releasing his EP on January 16, 2010 at The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, and a much anticipated album later in 2010. Please stay tuned.....K.I.C.(keep it classic)
