Bio
Unsigned band bios are silly. First off, they are almost always written by someone in the band, typically by the person who sees himself as the group's "leader" He will use the third person to describe the band and how amazing they are. This introductory paragraph needs to whet the appetite for the casual visitor to want to know more about the group. It should communicate that the group is different from anything else around yet at the same time give several stylistic points of reference that neatly fit in with the musical zeitgeist. It's trickier than it sounds.
(We sound like Duran Duran, The Clash, David Bowie and Daft Punk.)
Then, a couple of lines to consolidate a tantalizing creation myth. Here, the first meeting between the group's principal members should be talked about with the same sense of historical gravitas as when Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt met at Yalta.
(Frank, Dave met at University of Connecticut. I met them both at a rehearsal studio on Ludlow street in 1998 and 1999 respectively. I met Amanda at Heavy Metal Karaoke in 2001. The four of us first played together in August 2004 )
The bio usually ends with a summary of band achievements that wildly overstate the group's cultural impact and then goes on to predict that the group will be massive in the next year to eighteen months.
(In our case, that part is actually true.)
