Bio

There's a million ways Fiction in Motion could tell their story. They could tell you that they formed with members who had absolutely no musical experience or that they played their biggest show ever with a bass player having only four days to rehearse. The best way, though, would be to start from the beginning...

Lead singer and guitarist, Michael Sea had the idea to form a rock band in the early 2000’s. At this point Croteau tried to play his favorite artists' songs, lipsynching in front of the mirror, mimicking every move. He thought he only needed crappy microphones to actually sing well but rapidly found that it needed a lot more work to reach Fiction in Motion’s dream to become a success.

Fiction in Motion met while Sea, listening to the Backstreet Boys, aspired to become the next boy band that all the girls fell in love with and Valcourt, listening to Metallica's ''Master of Puppets'', dreamed of breaking his drum set one day on stage. These diverse musical inspirations helped to form the glossy pop-rock sound that Fiction in Motion plays today.

Although they embrace sunny pop sounds Fiction in Motion are four friends who grew up in a cloudy town far from palm trees and sunny beaches. Michael Sea (Lead Singer/Guitar), Mark Villeneuve (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Jonathan Valcourt (Drums), and Eric Lachance (Bass) formed out of the smog of Quebec City. Some say that people from small towns may think different than people from big cities, but Fiction in Motion had big city aspirations.
Fiction in Motion always had a DIY mentality. From recording their first demos in Croteau’s bedroom to sleeping in the back of their 1985 Chevy van playing in front of mostly family and friends, the band quickly built a following that would lead them to open for New Cities and The Mission District.
In 2009, Fiction in Motion recorded their first EP. The EP was the result of devotion, hard work, and one month of four guys writing in a small one room apartment. The debut EP was recorded by up and coming Montreal producer Luc Tellier. The first single "Leaving" shows how the band has the ability to write catchy melodies...songs you can't get out of your head. From the rock power ballad "Don't Leave Me Behind" to the country-pop ''Dive Right In'', all 7 songs express a different side of the band. Energetic and lush, Fiction in Motion's first EP is the perfect blend between glitzy pop and alternative rock.

After months of touring their debut album, Fiction in Motion gained the attention of SOCAN award winning producer Brian Howes (Hinder, Boys Like Girls, Simple Plan, Hedley). In April 2011, Fiction in Motion flew from their little town in Quebec to Vancouver to record a brand new song. The song, ''Today'', which came out of this session describes the new direction of the band: pop rock anthems with a harder edge. While on the west coast, they showcased their music by playing at the famous Railway Club in Vancouver.
Fiction in Motion would travel to Hollywood where they recorded and produced their new single ''Ride'' with producer Erik Ron, who previously worked with Good Charlotte, Panic! At The Disco, Neon Trees and many others.

Fiction in Motion’s journey as a band has lead them back to their tiny rehearsal space, working out brand new songs and talking about what the future holds. With continued hard work and their knack for crafting glossy pop anthems, Fiction in Motion’s journey seems to be leading them to that level of stardom they have always dreamed about.
