Bio

Fiddle master Calvin Vollrath said, "The kids are amazing in what they have accomplished at such a young age." From folk, Celtic, Chinese, classical, jazz music to clogging. Kai and Lia have been performing toe tapping music as the Fiddlin Frenzy (Old Time Fiddle Kids) for a few years now. They are a "Face of Abbotsford" who had they face casting displayed in Abbotsford Art and Culture Center (CCMA) to represent the city's arts and culture. They had been featured on CBC radio and many local papers and have been nominated for the Abbotford Arty Award. Both of these young fiddlers are classical violin prodigies, they also play piano and Lia is also an accomplished cellist. In 2007, They had been chosen from about 400 string players to represent the Vancouver Youth Symphony to play in a celtic event and wow the audiences. They compose their own music since they were 7. Both of them are clogging dancers too. They have won many BC provincial and North American Fiddle contests. . When they competed at Prince George in the adult Twin Fiddle category and came in first, they received a standing ovation for their astonishing harmonic performance. Some of the adjudicators praise them as the "Musical Kids" They are also scholarship winners and judge for North Poplar Idol. In 2006, they recorded their first CD, "The Fox and The Fiddle" at the age 7 and 9. The children are repeated performers who are invited to play at numerous festivals such as Langley International Festival, Spirit of Sea Festival, BC Children Hospital Childrun, Organic Festival, Maple Sugar Festival, Steveston Salmon Festival, Port Alberni Salmon Festival, Mount Lehman Country Fair, Agrifair, Berry Beat Festival, Cranberry Festival, Nibbles and Bites Festival, BC Agriculture Annual Gala St. Patric's Day, Canada Day Parade Float live performance, Canada Day Celebration events etc and they are always a hit.
Both Kai and Lia represent Canadian culture with their music and dance as well they are fluent in Mandarin Chinese so they add another flavor to the mix. With Chinese and Finnish decent from their parents, they have grown up being exposed to three different cultures and they are enthusiastic to show the world how Canadian younger generations can take upon endorsement of exploring their culture.
Kai and Lia's toe tapping music are inherited from fiddle master Keith Wilson, CMJ's fiddler of the year- Mike Sanyshyn, Canadian Grand Master winner's Mark Sullivan and Patti Lamoureux, Calvin Vollrath and The Sabir Sisters.
