Their track ‘Don't Tell Your Mother’ starts out with a bass line reminiscent of Green Day’s Longview but is soon accompanied by guitar riffs not too dissimilar to The Bees or even dare we say even a homage to Chuck Berry. Fidel Afro bring a bit of summer into your music, it’s fun, easy going and perfect to listen to whilst supping some pints.” (106.1fm Manchester Rock Radio’s ‘Unsigned band of the week’)

Formed in Summer 2009, Fidel Afro hit the ground running with a series of gigs in Liverpool’s O2 Academy, winning a prestigious video shoot for a forthcoming single release, courtesy of Keyhole Promotions ‘Band in a Box’ event. The band have since been earning rave reviews for their live shows, with the ‘intricate, yet simple melodies, coupled with clever time changes’ drawing a multitude of favourable comparisons, from the above mentioned Bees and Chuck Berry right through to the Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age and beyond.

With a self-financed/produced debut album already completed and pre-release airplay on BBC6 Music (courtesy of Tom Robinson), Radio Merseyside (courtesy of Dave Monks) and Manchester Rock Radio, the next 12 months promise to be massive for everyone’s new favourite Cuban/Disco themed Rock’n’Roll band!!

“Loving your work, loving your work! Great band, killer track (Don’t Tell Your Mother). Everyone should visit the website for the disco Fidel Afro logo alone!!” (Tom Robinson, BBC 6music)
