Fidi Mwero & The Greg Creek Band came together around worship. We began playing gigs that called for original music and I started putting on paper what was in my head. We all come from different parts of the world and have collectively known each other less than 2 years. For the most part, we're all classmates in the seminary. Yes we're pastors!
My name is Fidi Mwero, and the Greg Creek Band is the worship band that is awesome enough to play my stuff.
Much of the music I write is pop-rock. Some are ballads and some are up beat flavorful rhythms but also slower, more thoughtful songs too. Vocals go up and down and all around the range, sometimes with harmoniousness.
My (Fidi Mwero) influences include Downhere, Switchfoot, MercyMe, Andrew Peterson, and the old schoolness of dcTalk. I dig the vocals of the Rascal Flatts people, Train & FFH. We've got some jazz bass influences throughout the band side and worship music influences like Chris Tomlin and Hillsong.
We've done countless worship services as well as Youth Rally's and a Concert in and around the Chicagoland and Southwest Michigan.
When it comes to writing music, I like to draw from my experiences wrestling with how a life dedicated to God is supposed to look like down on this world. My favorite phrase is from the Lord's prayer..."Thy will be done on Earth".
