Bio
Fiero is a band from the western suburbs of Buenos Aires. It started with a single guitar and loops, after Mariano Abelenda's trip to Brasil in 2009. Soon, Pablo Cartaginese joined in with his cosmic cello, and they started touring Brasil as a duo. The drummer, Sebastian Corso, joined the band at the end of 2011. At last, the dj and synth player Sergio Brotherpey came to the band in May 2012, bringing the scratches and the electronic tone.
The Fiero sound is based on improvisation, exploring different kinds of music like afro, folk, blues and some of the more recent rhythms like dubstep and drum and bass, using the energy of each to go on an experimental journey from rock to electronic music.
Within this setting, analogical, valvelike and vintage tendencies create an atmosphere that embraces both introspective narratives and dancing moments. Thanks to the improvisative basis, each concert is different from the other, making the band's shows a unique and one time experience.
The music is basically instrumental but there are also some tracks with vocal. The melodies are built up orchestrally, by the mean of recorded and live loops.
Fiero recorded its first album, "Trueque en Pelotas", in 2011. In December 2012, the band released its first DVD, a special recording of 4 live sessions in Auditorio Oeste (Buenos Aires). Presently, the band is getting ready to record its next studio album to be released by the end of 2013.
Fiero plays reagularly in Buenos Aires, especially in the western zone where it's originated from (in places like Tiganno Bar, Palo Borracho and Auditório Oeste). However, Fiero gigs in the capital city are getting more frequent, thanks to parties like "Uopa" in Makena and other clubs.
Outside Argentina, Fiero has been on tour in Brasil for 3 times so far.
On its last tour the band played in more than 7 cities in the states of Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Ceará and Santa Catarina.
São Paulo (capital): Beco203 ("Indierokkers"), Serralheria, Studio SP (Cedo e Sentado), Bar B, Casa do Mancha
Countryside of Sao Paulo: in bigger cities like Taquaritinga, São Carlos, beyond the "Fora do Eixo" clubs and houses.
Rio de Janeiro: Audiorebel, Plano B, Multifoco, and the emblematic "Rio Jazz Club" party.
Paraty: Sarau Restaurant , Istanbul, Hostel Sereia do Mar
Fortaleza: selected band for "Feira da Música" in August, 2012
Florianópolis: Caravana Lagoa, Blue Velvet
In 2013, Fiero is planning its 4th Brazilian Tour, and is getting ready to introduce itself to the European public as well.
