"Local Licks - "First Impressions" CD Review"

Strong debut from this progressive pop/punk outfit. With surprisingly solid songwriting for such a young band, it's no surprise it's been getting local radio play. Singer Caitlyn Mae Luning is suitably snarly and expressive but not over the top about it, the rest of the band knows their stuff, and the production is clean and smooth. - East Bay Express

"Fighting The Villain"

"..when Caitlyn starts singing she attacks it like it's nobody's business and the rest of the band does the exact same thing. These guys just know how to kick ass, between Miguel Perez and Cisco Estrada shredding their guitar strings and Caitlyn belting out the lyrics, Fighting The Villain leave you feeling like you are on an all out music/caffeine rush." - Lemonade Magazine

"Fighting The Villain"

I'm trying not to compare them to other female fronted bands, but I'm thinking they wouldn't mind me saying that they do remind me a bit of Hey Monday! but mixed with a sound all their own. I love Caitlyn's vocals, she's got a very powerful, yet sweet voice, but I also really notice some exceptional instrumental work in their songs as well.
They've already released an EP "First Impression" and recently released a new single "Last Goodbye" which is the song that got me hooked. - Break Off The Chains - Indie Music Rules!

Bio

It began in 2007 the way it should, a gang of friends sharing their musical talent to form something unique; picture a mad scientist mixing a strange concoction of elements in an undisclosed lab. The following year, Fighting the Villain had climbed a step up the ladder by releasing their debut EP, Turn to the Ruins. The success of their first single, ‘What’s Left’, provided an enormous boost in their career, and the transformation began to take place. Coffee shop gigs turned into performing at Bay Area’s BFD 2009 and DIY promotions turned into rotations on major radio stations around the US. Steadily peaking on the ‘buzz meter’, Fighting the Villain signed with Popsmear to record First Impression, and embark on a Northwestern tour.

Though they have accomplished a fair amount since jumping on the metaphorical ‘band wagon’, Fighting the Villain proves to exist as a relentless machine. ‘Last Goodbye’ is the most recent and polished single, mixed and mastered by none other than Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, VersaEmerge). 2011 will undoubtedly be a hectic year for these guys. You can count on a southern California tour as well as a brand new EP as soon as summer rolls around; yet another step up the ladder. Fighting the Villain is about striving for the impossible, and they’re anything from falling short.
