Meet Canadian Progressive Rock band Final Sight. On Vocals we have Conner Cryan who also writes most of the song lyrics, Lead Guitarist Grant MacKenzie who writes all the music, Rythum Guitarist Kyle Ritchie, Bass Guitarist Robbie Underwood and on Drums we have Daryl Ilton.
These guys have been going for barely a year and already have a massive following. Their music has a little something for all Rock fans to enjoy whether you prefer heavy, alternative, pop punk or may be something a little slower. Listening to them play an acoustic session makes you really appreciate each individual talent in the band, The guitar playing gives those of us who are mere beginners something to aspire to and along with Conner’s voice and it’s Justin Furstenfeld (Blue October) feel, it makes you want to hear a whole lot more. Rock Bandom wanted to help the fans get a little better acquainted with Final Sight so we asked the guys a few question such as Why did you chose Final Sight as the band name?, how would you describe your music and what we can expect from you next?.
This was what they told us…
“Final Sight represents that you can only move forward from this present moment in time therefore whatever may be happening now will be the final sight leading into the future of endless possibility. But in the end it’s because it sounds cool lol, we like saying random stories each time to describe it and make it’s sound like there’s this huge meaning behind it for fun haha!”
“We would describe our music to be progressive rock, for it can go from heavy rock, to light poppy ballads, to metal… We like to keep it interesting and out of the box to keep people engaged and wanting to hear more!”
“Fans can expect our upcoming debut album Childhood Brain to be released within the next few months, they should be sure to check it out/buy it because it’s going to be something they’ve been waiting for, something that hasn’t been heard before and something we’ve put our everything into! What is Final Sight? When you are a young alternative rock quintet there is one thing you need...courage. With a vocalist that endured nearly a life altering operation in his early years, courage is definitely a noticeable trait about this band. Stepping onto a stage and just givn’r, playing venues like the MOD club, The Horseshoe Tavern, Hard Rock Cafe, the Rivoli, and Cherry Colas to name a few, Final Sight brings tight and energetic stage presence, fun and comical crowd involvement and their ever so enduring peace and love to their fans.
Call them a power quintet, alternative rock, or even hard rock as you wish. They grew up on every inch of it and now are here with a punch. While you may be banging your head off the walls because it’s noise, or right-side beautiful music to your ears, don’t miss the message they preserve: Final Sight is here to uplift and inspire.
Childhood Brain, the bands most recent album, produced by Grant MacKenzie in Orillia ON, is 11 tracks bled out of Final Sight. Each individual song with it’s own meaning and perception. Opening track and single “This Town” is filled with great melodies, truthful lyrics, and a killer guitar solo that cannot go unheard and also has gained spin time on Rock 95 Barrie. This entire album showcases who Final Sight are as people through the stories told and the great musicians they’ve proved themselves to be.
Final Sight hails from Orillia Ontario and had their debut show as a full band in March of 2013. This was the show to showcase what they really had to offer... and that is just what they did. Competing against 50 bands, Final Sight claimed the title of second place. Alongside the awarding of second place, the band also received 20 hours of recording time to put towards their album “Childhood Brain” which was released early July 2014. None of this would have been possible without the operation their vocalist experienced.
“I had vocal surgery at age five. I had an inner cleft palate; I could only talk in vowels. The surgery is normally done at age seven, but we pushed for it at age five. Had it been done later, I probably wouldn’t be speaking properly today.” - (Connor Cryan)
