"15 awesome acts you wish you saw at CMJ 2010"

"So in the end of the day, you are completely wiped out with no money left in your pocket and a bunch of fliers from people you met in NYC dragging your butt to work on miserable exhaustion. Luckily, if you have thrown away those fliers and memories while you return to work this week, hoping to keep your job, we are here to remind you about some awesome bands you might have missed. The illest acts; the leaders of the future, the heroes of our times; the most magnificent of the magnificent; With names like Homeboy Sandman, K Flay, Das Racist, The Foot, Kosha Dillz, Shinobi Ninja and Two Door Cinema Club, you know this article is going to kick ass and revive you from the dead. When you get your job back this week and make $$, we have links to their albums so you can spend your money on something productive." - Urb Magazine

"Steal This Track: The Foot."

"With a keen ear for melody and a good hook, the Foot. (yes, the period is part of the band’s name) jerks from head-bobbing to head-banging with a deft flick of a switch." - Denver Reverb Music Blog

"Local Love: The Foot."

"...the band is showing a production far beyond bar band, and much closer to rock/pop stars." - Marquee Magazine, Boulder, CO

""MMMM - Monday March 29, 2010""

"...so far the word among local music afficienados has been nothing less than stellar. I expect a long ride for The Foot.’s debut in 2010." - Colorado Music & Radio

"Album Review - The Foot. - Primary Colors"

"Variety can be the nail in the coffin of a disorganized and non-cohesive band. But The Foot. (period included) pulls it off like a satin-lined sweater." - Scene Magazine, Ft. Collins, CO

"Profile: The Foot."

"[The Foot.'s] performance was upbeat, offering a catchy California sound that is hard to categorize."

"One thing is for certain: The Foot. has a bright future in music." - DU Clarion - Sept. 2008

"Local Band The Foot. Releases First EP Marion St."

"The unmistakable talent present on this EP desperately needs a full-length release to be more adequately expressed."

"The last song, 'The Experience', is sold pop-rock. The Foot. can be compared to Maroon 5 in all the right ways while listening to this song. It also has brief Jamiroquai tendencies, which is quite pleasantly off the beaten path." - DU Clarion - January 2009

""Tip Sheet: Introducing The Foot. These guys, ahem, kick ass -- even if their name doesn't.""

Splendid day for new music in the Backbeat cave. Just splendid. We just had a chance to listen the brand new album from the Foot. Whoo boy, is it dandy. Daddy like! Not as big a fan of the band's moniker, though. Seriously. Not to be a hater, but c'mon! Really? The Foot? That's the best they could come up with?

Fortunately, the dudes put much more time, thought and effort into their music, which is clear even just hearing the first few songs. Primary Colors, the bands latest effort, available for free download for the next few weeks, is utterly delightful.

"These three University of Denver grads clearly have some chops, which is immediately evident from first listen to the tasty guitar work and intermittent drum fills on the album. And that's to say nothing of vocals, melodies which are quite tuneful, bolstered by harmonies that are just this side of swell. The trio's taut sound is firmly rooted in pop, with glints of prog and jazz.

Take a listen after the jump, and catch The Foot tonight at the Gothic with Kinetix for DU's annual mustache bash."

""Free Music: The Foot.""

"There's a new trio making their appearance in the music scene, The Foot. based in Denver. The Foot. claims to be a culmination of a variety of bands such as Led Zeppelin and Muse. Boasting versatility, their debut album, Primary Colors, gives off exactly that kind of vibe.

The band's first song on the album, Seeing Red, really gives the listener a feel for Jeff McCollister's awesome vocals and acts as a perfect lead-in to the album. Reminding me a bit of Jet, Seeing Red oozes confidence and swagger. The beat of the bass drum accompanying the lead vocals near the end of the song is also a plus.

Empty Hands takes a different route with its harmonizing vocals and Jamaican rhythms at the beginning of the song, but stays true to the alternative rock side of the band with its killer guitar riff in the middle. Furthering the versatility of this band, Dreams makes use of a piano for a mellower feel.

The Foot. is definitely a band you'll want to keep an eye on. They have some crazy potential, and right now you can snag their debut album for free on their website, www.findthefoot.com. - The Wild Honey Pie

""Toe Tapping Music: Kickin' It With 'The Foot.'""

"You can’t put The Foot down. The rock-funk trio comprised of three graduating University of Denver students has its sights set high. Weaving its way through Denver’s competitive rock and roll scene, the band has already produced a three-song EP and is poised to make this music thing a full-time gig."

"Guitarist Phil Barrett, bass player and singer Jeff McCollister and drummer Noah Shomberg, all 22, are building a bright, catchy sound unlike anything else on the Denver scene."

- Chase Squires - University of Denver Community News

"Album Review - Primary Colors"

"the music contained on the band's debut album, Primary Colors, is certainly ball-rocking. Good-time seekers weaned on the '90s, The Foot. plays big-ass rock built on a foundation of '70s classics and colors its sound with a little Jack White, Pearl Jam and the drunken recollections of Top 40 shit from a decade ago." - Westword

Bio

With their tongues thrust firmly into their cheeks and their music warming the hearts and loins of the audiences they captivate night after night, Denver's The Foot. expertly blends new and old influences into a sound that is immediately recognizable, with a novel edge that is certainly their own.

The lifelong musicians are old schoolmates, brought together at university from all corners of the country. They immediately took their shared love of 60s and 70s classic rock, early 90s alternative rock, modern pop and r&b and began rehearsing earnestly in a basement that seemed to flood on a weekly basis. The results of these aquatic sessions were what would ultimately become their critically acclaimed debut release, 2010's Primary Colors.

Hailed as one of Denver's top rock acts, The Foot. entered the national scene at New York City's CMJ 2010. Urb Magazine declared them "one of the 15 acts you wish you saw at CMJ" alongside such acts as Das Racist and Two Door Cinema Club. After making several swings across the country, playing some of the most prestigious venues at home, and playing with some of the most respected artists on the national stage, The Foot. has begun work on a series of EPs, the second and third of which were released in early Spring 2012. As if that wasn't enough, they are continuing to pursue a rigorous touring schedule, write, and shimmy their way into all of your lives, of course.
