"As I Hear It"

Artist: Fing
Song: "Rock the Hips" (from the CD Making Love with Fear)

Heard By: Robbie Butler, Spring Valley

In the beginning, it totally sounded like the Neptunes doing a No Doubt song. It had that feel where it was funky and guitar-driven. Then the vocals came in and he sounded like Isaac Brock singing Electric Six lyrics. It was like a radio rap song put to a pseudo-punk/disco beat. He was singing about getting on the dance floor and getting sweaty...bumpin' and grindin'. For the style that they played they were decent. It could have commercial potential, especially with the whole "dance craze" that's going on right now. I could see Shark Attack DJs playing that at the Beauty Bar.

Bio

Fing started playing together in 2005 as a four piece with Pascal playing keys and singing. Eric took over the keys and James Balmer was our bassist. We had been together a bit over a year when Pascal and James were in a car accident that took the life of their friend, Angie, hospitalized Pascal, and put James in a coma for a month which left him disabled from a brain injury that damaged his motor skill control. There was a six month recovery leave for Pascal and Fing got a couple of guys to cover the bass while James continues his physical rehabilitation. Currently, Josh is doing a great job on the bass. Fing is now in full swing with shows in southern California and selling tons of their album, Making Love With Fear which was released on September 21, 2007. Their 11 song album is frequently played on local San Diego radio station fm 94.9 and has been reviewed in a couple different publications. The momentum is unbelievable.
