Bio

An Argentine and a Brazilian. A party with South American rhythms praised by the international media in 17 countries. A fusion with traditional sounds focusing on their countries of origin: Brazil and Argentina. The accordion, cello, piano and electronics sounds are tools for this trip.

"The duo that is worth a thousand" was the phrase that MTV Brazil identified the massive sound created by just these two musicians, who have a mesmerizing performance, as said the brazilian newspaper Diário de Natal: "I've never seen a cello played like that" .

Vibrant, intense and rich in content. The duo seeks to present a particular South American musicality little known outside their continent like Baião, Forró, Milonga, Saya, Huayno, Candombe, Frevo, besides the famous tango, samba and bossanova. All this mixed with electronic sounds.

The duo is formed by Brazilian cellist Raphael Evangelista and by argentinean accordionist and pianist Mauricio Candussi. Evangelista has a long history in Brazilian orchestras like the Philharmonia Orchestra of São Paulo. In addition to recording with many popular artists of his country and others in South America. Candussi is professional pianist since childhood, acting as a multi-instrumentalist in several bands featured in Argentina, participating in large projects and festivals throughout his career.

Together they created, in 2010, the project FINLANDIA, being called, in their first tour as "A factory of original sounds, curious and affectionate" by the Argentine magazine EL VERNACULO. The accolades were extended in the months following by each country that the duo visited. And the fusion between traditional and electronic earned them a name by the main Brazilian newspaper FOLHA DE SÃO PAULO as "modern genres."

At the end of 2010, Finlandia was invited to a Chilean anthology "Andes" with artists from Russia and Chile. In 2011 won Hangar Awards: Best Brazilian Instrumental band. In 2012, nominated from among 30 highlight artists from Brazil by OI MUSICA. In 2013, nominated to a list of 4 world highlight artists by the british music project SOFAR SOUNDS with bands of Manchester, Bristol and New York.

In three years of project, they released 3 albums: Nandhara, Extension, Carnavales (a theme album focused on traditional festivities of South American Carnivals) and, in 2013, release DALE, the new album with international participations of musicians around the world.

Finlandia did 3 large tours by 17 countries in 3 years. The shows and albums include special invitations to many musicians around the world, like the brazilian singer Pitty, argentine singer Sol Pereyra, mexican guitarrist Silvano Zetina, Brazilian flautist Beto Mejia, chilean percussionist Christian Graniffo and salvadoran guitarrist Chato Hernandez. The concerts places includes: Café Rivoli Theatre (Portugal), Mbar Helsinki (Finland), UFA Fabril Kulturzentrum (Germany), Central Music Brasil Conference (Brazil), Rec Beat Festival (Brazil), Winter Festival of Gramado (Brazil), French Alliance auditorium (Bolivia), ICPNA theather (Peru), Jazz Cafe Escazu (Costa Rica), K8 Live stage (Nicaragua), Pelotas Jazz Festival (Brazil), Contrapedal Fest (Uruguay), among others.
