Fiona Ryan

Fiona Ryan is a classically trained musician who with music as her magic carpet has travelled the world from Alaska to the outback. She's played in-line ups covering countless genres including Celtic, Folk, Indian, Blues, Middle Eastern, Funk, Ska, Reggae, Country and that old time Rock and Roll. She's been a backing and session musician and Teacher for most of her life for the famous (and the infamous!Stevie Wright for example) She has performed on the big stages of Broadbeach Blues Fest, Byron Bay Blues Festival, Woodford, and Sydney Opera House . Fiona has played all the local Byron Bay venues for years in countless different line-ups. Since her index finger was severed recently in a fishing accident (and successfully reattached!)she made a decision to throw herself into the spotlight in addition to her busy schedule as a backing muso.She now performs her previously closeted originals accompanied by her beautiful piano playing and her impressive vocals, with a flurry of fantasic flute thrown in. She has an utterly distinctive voice that moves people, and her original compositions are intelligently crafted. Her compositions range from hilarious to heartbreaking. Fiona is an extremely likeable woman and is as charismatic on-stage as she is off-stage.
