Fire 9 is a new punk-metal trio featuring Crumbs Off The Table drummer Cheryl Lawson. They played a very energetic set with heavy sludgy bass, thick electric guitar, and great drumming. Fire 9 is a Chicago-based trio of queer rockers united by their love of Riot Grrrl and sounds that vibrate your lower spine. With a membership drawing from three different time zones, the band is driven by the drumming of Illinois native Naydja Bruton, who has made her mark in such bands as Lockjaw Nancy, Lezurreccion and Violet Kills. Hailing from the East Coast, Fire 9’s guitarist/vocalist Cheryl Lawson has brought it in multiple outfits, including Jackass Magnets, Crumbs Off the Table and The Recruitment. And covering the low end, Oregonian Dave Wellman has contributed bass and vocals to bands that include Film at Eleven, ¿Que Té Pongo? and, along with Cheryl, The Recruitment.
