Firebrand

Firebrand started as an acoustic duo between lead vocalist/lead guitarist Owen Brand and lead vocalist Whitney B in 2004. They developed a unique sound together and have been honing that for years through their songwriting and performances.

Owen has spent years on the road with many different musical acts, and has opened for such groups as Halfway to Hazard, Juice Newton, Rhett Akins and Jamie Johnson, to name a few. He has worked with Elliot Mazer on the Bo Allen and Scarekrow Project. After years of touring with other groups, he knew that he could bring that experience back to Whitney and Firebrand, and really create something amazing!

While Owen spent time on the road, Whitney remained in Kentucky to focus on songwriting. Her songs are simple and honest, striking a chord with everyone who hears. Her voice is a room stopper and also very versatile. Her voice is a touch of blues, rock, country, or anything else she wants it to be. She is a real commodity in this business, as she writes, plays her ovation acoustic guitar and can interject such passion into everything she plays.

In 2008, Owen and Whitney decided to take everything they had accumulated in their 4 years together and take it on the road. They have traveled from Key West, FL to Denver, CO to perform, and are a very unforgettable act.

Owen met drummer/vocalist Mike Loscalzo on the road in Key West and decided that he was crucial to Firebrand and their sound. With the addition of Mike came the addition of their 3 part harmonies and their heart stomping rhythym, with Bass player Dustin McElwain, their rhythym is something to be rivaled. Young and full of energy, they are full of excitement! They consider themselves a family, which is something that is hard to find, especially in this cookie cutter industry.

Between the unmistakable sound of Owen's telecaster and Whitney's soulful voice, they bring a marriage of blues, rock, funk and outlaw to every show they do. With the addition of Mike and Dustin to the rhythym section, they have taken their sound to another level. Their cover list includes artists such as Johnny Cash, Skynyrd, 4 Non Blondes, Miranda Lambert, Alannah Miles, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Ray Charles, just to show a little of their versatility. With such a wide range of influences and their unique sound, their show is something that everybody will enjoy!
